Stocks and securities
We gratefully accept gifts in the form of stocks/appreciated securities. When you transfer ownership of appreciated securities to The Sentencing Project, you may receive a charitable income tax deduction for their fair market value on the date the gift is made, up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income, and incur no capital gains tax subject to IRS deduction limits. Donating stock from your brokerage directly to our account through the secure Donate Stock portal is safe, easy, and complete in 10 minutes or less.
Cryptocurrency
We partnered with The Giving Block to enable our supporters to make safe cryptocurrency donations in a matter of minutes. When donating cryptocurrency, you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated crypto that is donated and can typically deduct the fair market value of the donation on your taxes. This often makes Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax-efficient ways to support The Sentencing Project.
