The annual inflation rate in Vietnam declined to 3.59% in October 2023 from September’s seven-month high of 3.66%. Prices rose at a softer pace for food & drink services (2.81% vs 2.87% in September), housing & construction materials (6.88% vs 7.33%), clothing & footwear (1.97% vs 2.06%), culture, entertainment & tourism (1.34% vs 1.37%), and education (7.14% vs 7.25%). Meanwhile, cost of transport continued to increase (3.9% vs 3.2%). The annual inflation, which excludes volatile items, declined to a 14-month low of 3.43% from 4.49% in the previous month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.08% in October, the least in five months, slowing from a 1.08% gain in the previous month, which was the highest since February 2021.
