LUCKNOW: The UP government has made a provision of Rs 20,255 crore for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in the 2023-24 state Budget presented in the Assembly by state finance minister

A provision of Rs 1,000 crore has been made under

Operation Kayakalp

, which will help revamp infrastructure in primary and upper primary schools run by the

Basic Education Council

.

Similarly, infrastructure upgrade in a large number of schools will be possible with the help of Central government's new scheme - PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) - with a provision of Rs 510 crore. For secondary education, the government has given a push for running various programmes under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan with the allocation of Rs 1,003 crore.
Besides, the Budget has also made a provision of digital libraries at gram panchayat and ward level with the help of Rs 300 crore.
"Free uniforms will be provided to about 28 lakh students above the poverty line (allocation of Rs 50 crore), free sweaters, shoes-socks and school bags to about two crore students of class 1 to 8 (allocation of Rs 1,000 crore). Rs 11 crore has been set aside for the operation and construction of primary and upper primary schools in Vantangia villages," said Khanna.

Rs 500 crore have been earmarked for Alankar scheme. Besides, provisions of Rs 100 crore for creation of assets of

Sanskrit

schools and Rs 10 crore for providing scholarships to students studying Sanskrit in secondary schools has been made in the Budget.
A provision of Rs 50 crore and Rs 33 crore has been made for establishment of state polytechnics and infrastructure development, respectively.
