A few things to keep in mind when you use Robinhood while traveling.

You can access your Robinhood account in almost all countries, with the exception of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea region of Ukraine. In these places, you won’t be able to access your account, and attempted log-ins from within those regions may lead to account restrictions.

Laws and regulations administered by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) restrict services that can be provided by U.S. financial institutions to persons, including U.S. citizens and permanent residents, in specified sanctioned jurisdictions (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Crimea). Please know that when you’re in these locations, you won’t be able to access your account, meaning you won’t be able to place trades or close out your positions. Log-in attempts from these locations may lead to an account restriction, in which case we’ll only be able to unrestrict your account once we can confirm you’re no longer present in a sanctioned jurisdiction.

• Make sure your contact information is up-to-date before you travel. If we suspect there might be unauthorized activity in your account, we’ll want to get in touch with you, so make sure to always keep your contact information up-to-date.
• Never share your password. Remember that Robinhood Support will never ask for your account password, verification codes, or credentials regarding your accounts on other trading platforms.
• Plan ahead if you’re traveling to a sanctioned jurisdiction. Remember that you may not be able to place trades in your account while you’re in a sanctioned jurisdiction, so plan accordingly.
• Use trusted internet connections while traveling. Public networks, such as those in airports or hotels, may not be protected and could leave your personal and sensitive information exposed.
• Use strong and unique passwords that you don’t reuse for any other services or apps—password managers can help you generate and store your passwords across multiple services.
• Turn on Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to help keep you secure from unauthorized access of your account. 2FA requires anyone attempting to log into your account to have access to your phone or a hardware token, which provides you with additional protection from individuals attempting to access your account remotely.

If your device is lost or stolen while you’re traveling, you can contact us to proactively freeze your account. We can help protect your account if you fear fraud or unauthorized activity may occur.

Be aware that once we restrict permissions to your account, we’ll need information from you once you’d like to unfreeze it. We’ll need at least a photo ID and bank statement to validate your identity, and the process of unfreezing can take a few days. Plan ahead before you travel to make sure that you’ll still have access to this information.
