  • In order to trade at KRX Stock Markets, every investor has to first open a trading account through licensed securities company that has obtained KRX Membership (hereinafter "Members"). Investors can only place (or submit) their trading orders through the Members which act as agents in the market. Immediately after receiving customer orders, Members will submit corresponding Quotations to KRX market system through electronic network.
  • Foreigners (non residents) need to obtain registered 「Investors Registration Certificate (IRC)」from FSS before opening a trading account. Foreigners need to appoint a Standing Proxy, most likely a global bank offering custodian services and foreign exchange, and conducting these processes on their behalf.
  • Foreigners also need to designate a local custodian bank which would provide custody, money transfer, and security settlement services.
