Getting money is a major part of The Sims 4 just like it is in real life. Players might enjoy designing houses, increasing their skills, and building relationships with other Sims, but all of that is impossible without a little bit of money. While most players are usually trying to figure out how to get money, others are more concerned with how to get rid of it. For those players that simply have more money than they know what to do with, there are two primary methods that players can use to get rid of their Sims' money in The Sims 4.

There are a number of reasons why a player might want to take money away from their Sim in The Sims 4. It's possible that cheats were used to give money to the Sim unfairly and players want to reverse this decision, or sad*stic players may simply want their Sims to struggle a bit more. Another possibility is that players might want to start over but keep the same characters and neighborhood.

Updated on January 29, 2022, by Ritwik Mitra: The Sims 4 is an amazing life simulation game, with its rocky start all but forgotten given the myriad of updates this game has received over time. The sheer amount of content present in this game is quite impressive, with players investing hundreds of hours into making the perfect home for their families or just causing destruction and mayhem if they wish!

One of the biggest draws of The Sims 4 is amassing numerous expensive objects, of which there are many in the game. In general, spending money is quite satisfying in the game, and players can check out the following avenues to put their hard-earned Simoleons to good use, as well as find out how to get rid of their Sims' money the cheaty way.

Spend The Money

The obvious answer for how to get rid of money in The Sims 4 is to spend it. There are a lot of high-budget items that players can purchase, but the Virtuoso Violin is one of the most expensive. Players can purchase these instruments for §15,000 each, making it a good way to blow lots of money quickly. Players that want to get rid of their money without getting anything in return can even sell these violins back at a depreciated price.

Alternatively, players could also purchase expensive mansions from the Gallery in The Sims 4. After all, there is no shortage of great homes that players can check out, with these houses being the very lap of luxury itself. Of course, players don't have to select pre-made houses — they can also create buildings of their own, which are pretty fun to construct and decorate from the ground up.

Of course, players can also choose to spend their money on vacation homes to give their successful Sims a much-needed rest. Retail Lots are also an option, with the player having the opportunity to maintain these locations if they want to engage in a different gameplay loop.

Donate The Money

A simple action that most players tend to forget about, donating money in The Sims 4 is a great way to make Sims more charitable and find a fitting avenue to send their money through. While it's possible that certain households might have so much money that a single donation won't be enough, it's still a relatively immersive way to do away with excess money if the need arises.

Cheat The Money Away

As with most questions in The Sims 4, there's a legitimate answer and one that involves cheats. After all, there are an endless amount of actions that players can accomplish with the use of cheats. At the end of the day, The Sims 4 is a PC game, and access to an in-game console means that there are a whole host of console commands that players can experiment around within the game. This includes many money cheats, including a quick and easy way to get rid of their money.

The first thing that players need to enable to use this money manipulating scheme is to activate cheat mode in The Sims 4. To do this, hold down CTRL+Shift+C on PC, or all four shoulder buttons on PS4 and Xbox One. This will open the console, allowing players to enter whatever command they want to change the game values as they see fit... right after inputting one particular command.

Type in "testingcheats true" without the quotation marks, following which you can use the "Money" cheat to get rid of some cash. Simply type "Money x", where x is the desired amount of money the player wants to have. This can be used to increase, decrease, or outright omit the amount of money players have, which can prove to be a rather challenging scenario indeed.

Thankfully, players can use this same cheat again if they end up regretting their decision to get rid of all of their cash. After all, while it might seem great and all to play the game with a fresh challenge, the lack of funds can cause serious short-term issues that most players might not have thought of.

With these methods, players should have no problem getting rid of all their hard-earned Simoleons in The Sims 4. The game's economy isn't hard to exploit given the steady funnel of income, so limiting a source of money can be a great way to make things fresh for a well-off family in the game!

The Sims 4 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
