An eighteen-year paperwork snafu led to the loss of Bountiful's only bar at a busy DABC meeting this month. The bar in question, The Fifth, underwent a change in business name way back in 2001.

The Midway is a fun, friendly, family-owned bar and restaurant run by our Utah family and friends. You may have seen our transformation on Bar Rescue, but that's just the beginning of our story.

In addition to the cost of renovations, Bar Rescue also pays for Jon Taffer's consulting fees. Taffer's fee is not publicly known, but it is estimated to be in the six-figure range. The average cost of a Bar Rescue renovation is around $100,000.

Of the bars featured, Taffer has left four without remodeling (O Face Bar, an intended re-rescue of Second Base Bar & Grill, Black Light District Rock and Roll Lounge, and Hideaway Bar & Grill) and one without a grand re-opening (The Dugout).

Furthermore, of the 229 total bars featured on "Bar Rescue" from the series start in 2011 to now, 108 are still slinging drinks to customers, making the overall success rate of Taffer's interventions an impressive 47%.

From allegations of encouraging bad behavior to dressing the set to appear dirtier, Bar Rescue is considerably more fake than viewers may think. Audiences want to see drama with employees and bar owners acting outlandish. Unfortunately, it isn't always reality.

It is commonly believed that Taffer takes a percentage of the businesses he rescues; however, this is totally untrue. All renovations and improvements are paid for by sponsors, with no cost to the businesses.

As of February 2024, Bar Rescue hasn't been greenlit for the 10th season. This is not unusual as season 9 just premiered, and Paramount Network will observe how it performs with the audience before making any decision. Throughout the years, Bar Rescue has managed to garner a considerable following.
