Studies have shown that baking soda and peroxide together can kill some of the bugs that cause gum disease, reduce plaque and reduce gum inflammation. Did you know that it can also whiten teeth?

Most whitening products, both over the counter and by prescription, use carbamide peroxide as the active ingredient. Some of the carbamide peroxide breaks down into hydrogen peroxide. Here is DIY recipe for making your own whitening toothpaste:

2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide + one tablespoon of baking soda

Some add a little essential oil for taste and smell

Stir mixture into paste-like consistency. Make sure it’s not too gritty! If so, add a little more hydrogen peroxide.

Brush with this paste and thoroughly rinse! Use this paste in moderation; no more than 2-3 times a week. Too much baking soda can break down enamel, which may lead to sensitivity. Remember that this paste does not have any added fluoride benefit.

I wanted to find a dentist that is both good and honest about what really needs done vs optional procedures. Dr. Tran Hoang and her team exceeded ALL of my expectations. They are much more advanced than general dentists (Prosthodontists can do dental implants and complex restoration procedures), so when they do family dentistry, they can explain why and how things are happening and work with incredible precision that very few other dentists can achieve. I was very close to needing a root canal and a crown on a tooth. Dr. Hoang cleaned all of the decay with such surgical precision that saved the root, and the crown and thousands of dollars for me (not to mention sparing me all that pain). Go to a dentist with skills, it pays off!

Love love love this place. Dr. Hoang truly cares about her patients, she followed up several times to make sure my teeth are feeling okay. She has great knowledge of any issues, but will take reasonable steps to make sure you don't just rush to the most expensive option. I really appreciate her thoroughness, and also her care for both the patient and their wallet. Highly recommend!

Dr. Tran Hoang is THE BEST!! She puts patients first above all else. She is so patient kind and skilled at all that she does. I had the worst tooth pain a couple of years ago - and she walked me through the entire process. I will NEVER go to another dentist again. I drive all the way from Oakland to see her. She is the TOTAL package: Dr. Tran Hoang is not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled but also compassionate and kind. If you're looking for a new dentist to calm all your fears and provide you with the best care - you've found her. Go see Dr. Hoang.

I have had a life long fear of dental procedures due to sensitive gums and previous bad experiences. Dr. Hoang has helped me overcome my loathing of seeing a dentist by being a wonderful dentist whose attention to detail and comfort has put my nervousness at ease. From simple cleanings to fillings, Dr. Hoang eased me into each procedure to ensure that I was not feeling any pain or discomfort. Due to her great care, I no longer dread going to the dentist.

I highly recommend Dr. Hoang to anyone looking for a dentist. After trying so many dentists throughout my life, I can assuredly say that she is one of the best you will find and one with a huge heart for her patients.

Best family dentist!

It began with my mom seeing Dr. Hoang and now my husband. Our family sees Dr. Hoang for our regular dental care and it's been a wonderful experience. She's very thorough, very professional, very friendly, and very knowledgeable. She's a PH gem.... and Ina on her team is great. The two of them are a wonderful team.

My mom saw Dr. Hoang while she was visiting us from LA. Mom loved Dr. Hoang so much that she switched dental care to PH from Los Angeles and sees Dr. Hoang when she comes to visit us 2-3x a year. Dr. Hoang has helped her with dental prosthetics that is comfortable and structurally strong to help her eat her food.

We love Dr. Hoang and recommend her a 100%!
