The 9 Best RTC Blogs of 2019 - Dividend Income Investor (2024)

The 9 Best RTC Blogs of 2019 based off Google Analytics numbers, comments, features on other websites, and overall engagement.

I recently started the “never stop blogging” roundup to feature other bloggers I’m reading. I had a lot of fun publishing the first roundup and plan to post another this month.

The reason for mentioning the roundup, though, is because it’s the inspiration behind publishing a personal roundup. Although I always wanted to publish a post that featured other RTC posts, this is something that I’ve refrained from doing because I figured the blog hasn’t been around for long enough.

But you know what—I like documenting sh*t and there were a few decent posts last year. Hence why I’m publishing a personal roundup featuring the top RTC blog posts of 2019.

As a quick best RTC blogs preface, a total of 67 blog posts were published in 2019. I selected the 9 best RTC Blog posts based off Google Analytics numbers, comments, features on other websites, and overall engagement.

Here are the best RTC blogs of 2019:

Financial Goals for 2019

According to Google Analytics, Financial Goals for 2019 received the highest amount of page views of all posts. So this post is actually the clear-cut winner.

As a personal finance blogger, I’m happy to see that a personal finance goal-setting post is the number one viewed post over the past year. I truly enjoy writing goal-setting posts and rely on personal checklists every single day. Goal-setting is one of the reasons I enjoy blogging.

In regards to the financial goals, I accomplished nearly all of them, even in a year filled with change. I realized that setting financial goals is beneficial even if you don’t achieve the goals. Because at the end of the day, you’re at least closer than you would’ve been without any goal-setting at all.

5 Expenses to Cut-Out to Increase Cash Flow

I must admit I was surprised when I saw that this post was the 2nd highest in page views during the year. This was one of the best RTC blogs?!

But it just goes to show that personal finance is a topic of interest.

Perhaps more blog posts on personal expenses, budgeting, and personal finances are necessary.

Anyways, this was one of those quickly written posts that was easy to write because it’s something I was already doing.

And it’s still true that cutting out these 5 expenses will increase your cash flow.Read the post here.

Dividend Income Update # 25 | June 2019 | 76% YoY Increase

For whatever reason, the 25th dividend income update received the most page views out of all of the dividend updates last year. Even though it was far from the highest amount of income earned.

Nevertheless, I’m happy to see dividend income updates were some of the most viewed posts, because dividend income updates are the foundation of the RTC blog.

For the record, in order to avoid a list of dividend income updates, I am skipping over some of the other top ranked dividend income updates on the Google Analytics list.

Why Taking A Year Off Work Was A Mistake

This is another one that surprised me. Really? This is one of the best RTC blogs?! The post about how taking time off work was a mistake received high views? Turns out it did.

As an additional note about this post, I wish the title included “I don’t Regret it but…”

Because in reality, I loved every minute of my year off. It was needed. And it has become part of this story that connects to my current part-time job. RTC has become about lifestyle options that I’ve done, such as taking a year off work or working part-time to have more time before FI.

Related post: Why taking a Year is Awesome AF

Of course, there are always trade-offs. I just wanted to write about the downsides to taking a year off. For example, I would’ve been a lot better off financially if I didn’t take a year off. Turns out it was a good idea for a post.

Why Dividend Investing is My Main Investment Strategy

I must’ve been in some type of groove last March or something, because two of the top RTC blog posts of 2019 are from this month.

In the case of this post on Dividend Investing, I attempted to describe the reasons why I prefer dividend investing as my main strategy. I learned the value of this strategy even further in 2019, as I strayed from it and got burned, when I invested in the cannabis industry. At least I took my own advice and invested 10% or less.

Furthermore, this is another post I am happy to see make the list. Because I eventually want dividend investing to be one of my main income streams. I hope this post did my strategy justice.

Why Working 3 Days Per Week Is An Optimal FI Solution

I’m glad this one made the list too because it’s a good one. The photo is great. It’s appropriate, it’s calm. This post begins to describe what I’ve done with my life and where this blog is going.

Working 3 days per week is an optimal FI solution for me because I want to enjoy more life now and I don’t want to wait. I also don’t want to take on too much stress from an important job or spend all my time at work trying to climb the ladder.

Perhaps working 3 days per week is an optimal FI solution for you too. Read more about it here.

Slow FIRE Financial Independence Update: What It’s Like To Work Part-Time

Another post about my transition from full-time to part-time work made the list.

Want another update?

I absolutely love all the extra time and shorter shifts that I work. I don’t take any work home with me either. During my free time, if I’m not spending time with friends or family, I’m spending time on the blog. During my free-free time, when I’m too tired to blog, I watch Netflix and keep up with basketball.

What To Do If You Won The Lottery So That You Never Have To Work Again

I would stop jobbing if I won the lottery -RTC

This post was fun to write.

It’s basically just writing out that conversation about winning the lottery we’ve all had.

However, you then go in extra detail and actually try to break it down. It makes you realize that $1,000,000 is not a lot of money these days. Of course, as a dividend investor, I could make it work.

FI-RE is NOT a Sacrifice—It’s Buying Time

This post may have been higher on the list if it was published earlier in the year. Although it was only published in the fall, it still cracked the top 25 page views list.

Overall, I think it’s a good concept and it really does represent my sentiment towards time.

The main reason this post made the list, though, considering it’s not top 10 in terms of page views, is because it was featured on one or two other websites.

Best RTC Blogs Concluding Thoughts

My hope is that I can create better content by analyzing these posts. And hopefully, I will surprise myself even further.

Who knows? Maybe this roundup could be the next surprise post. Maybe it will be the highest viewed post of all-time.

If there’s anything else I’ve learned about blogging, besides these 7 points, it’s that you must be open-minded enough to try different strategies. During the first year or two, I didn’t want an email subscription pop-up. But then I tried it and realized it was a great way to grow my email subscription list.

Before I always wanted to blog my own way because I enjoy blogging. It’s a creative outlet. But now, since I enjoy blogging so much, I want to share it, talk about it, and learn more about it. I’m even interested in attempting the more challenging tasks that I’ve avoided in the past now. This post is a testament to that—trying new strategies, such as roundups and other helpful forms of content.

For those who are new to the RTC Blog, I hope you found this post helpful in learning more about what this blog is all about.
