Though it is indeed possible to teach without a degree with Preply, the majority of our teachers have formal academic training as well as professional experience in their teaching domain. In the case of History, we see that our most successful teachers have bachelors, masters, or even doctoral degrees in Modern, Medieval, Art, or World History. On top of this, some have also studied teaching or pedagogy as part of their degrees. Likewise, many of our teachers have taken common qualifying examinations for the subject, including College Board’s Advanced Placement, SAT, GED, IB and Regents History.
Once working with Preply, it can be advantageous to pursue a teaching specialization. This can not only help to distinguish yourself from other teachers on the platform, but also to hone in on subject areas with particularly high student demand. In the case of History, we see that examination preparation is a typical area of specialization. There is high student demand for courses including AP Art History, AP US History, AP World History, SAT US and World History, Regents US History and Government, as well as IB History. Beyond this, popular specializations also include Ancient, Middle Age, and Modern History.
