Founded in 1985, SunPower’s headquarters are in San Jose, California with manufacturing plants in Mexico, Malaysia, Philippines and China.

The SunPower Range
In Australia, we are aware of the following solar panels.
P-Series – Manufactured in China.
Maxeon – Manufactured in Mexico, Malaysia and the Philippines.
The P-Series ranges from 310w – 335w, while the Maxeon range of solar panels ranges from 340w – 400w.
The P-Series is considered their budget option relative to the Maxeon range which is considered to be their standard offering.
What Technology Do They Use?
SunPower’s technology has separated them from their competitors. Their Maxeon solar panels in particular are supported by a copper substrate at the back rather than busbars on the front like conventional panels.

Solar panel warranties come in 2 forms, manufacturers product warranty and the performance warranty.
SunPower’s product warranty is 25 years and their performance warranty is depending on if it’s the Maxeon series or P-Series.
P-Series – 97% nominal power for the first year and will decline by no more than 0.6% per year with an output of 82.6% at 25 years.
Maxeon – 98% nominal power for the first year and will decline by no more than 0.25% per year with an output of 92% at 25 years.
Manufacturing Locations
SunPower 4 manufacturing locations, Mexico, Malaysia, Philippines and China. The SunPower manufacturing plants in Mexico, Malaysia and the Philippines manufacture the Maxeon series, with most of the assembly of the product in Mexico. All of the manufacturing and assembly of the P-Series is in China.
SunPower once owned a manufacturing plant in the US to beat the Trump tariff but has since closed this facility.
Do They Have An Australian Presence?
SunPower has been operating with an office in Australia for quite some time. Their current Australian office address is Unit 207/28 Riddell Parade Elsternwick, Victoria.
What Do They Look Like?
We find the SunPower solar panel to be one of the most attractive panels on the market. The P-Series comes in an all black module which is quite honestly a very sexy panel.
