Global cities play a major role in economic development of the country
1. After knowing the criteria of global cities, does any Philippine city qualify to be a global city, why?
Metro Manila qualifies to be a global city because it is the world's most densely populated city, and
continues to grow at an exponential pace. It serves as the headquarters to one of the fastest growing
economies in the world. Filipinos, especially residents of Manila, travel all over the world as nurses,
nannies, construction workers, and sailors. They provide the mass labor fueling the global service
economy.
2. What can be done to become a competitive city globally?
In order for a city to be globally competitive, it must have a large and growing economy, a good legal
system, an inviting and productive culture, good infrastructure and it must have good policy on things
that determine long-term stability and success, like the environment.
3. What are the Filipino qualities that would promote globalization?
Filipinos have these qualities that would surely promote globalization:
- Hospitality
- Hardworking
- Respectful
- Strong work ethic
- Generosity and helpfulness
- Love and Caring

As I Watch the video, it explains how cities are the centers of civilization long before thousands of
years ago. As new decades come new changes and radical transformision are undergone because of the
large urban population increases the world is currently going through its biggest build-out of technology
infrastructure in history. Leading to Building of more ports, buildings, roads, bridges, rail lines, airports,
power cables and telecommunication network. The growth of the Population is somehow creates new
opportunities and new challenges to our social, economic and technological transformations.
