Overview
MarketSmith stock charts present key technical and fundamental data in an easy-to-read format. You can view daily, weekly, monthly and intraday charts within MarketSmith. Stock chart information includes:
- Company information: Business Description, Symbol, Exchange, Industry Group, Price/Volume items, and web address link
- Exclusive Proprietary Ratings and other proprietary data points
- Annual EPS, Earnings Estimates, and Historical Earnings Data
- Quarterly EPS, Sales, Price/Earnings Range, and Dividends
- Daily Price (high/low/close), Volume Bars, Moving Average Price and Volume Lines, Relative Price Strength Rating and Relative Strength Line
Free real-time price and volume data provided by Nasdaq Last Sale is available on MarketSmith stock charts. To activate the real-time feed, select “Nasdaq (Real-Time reference data)” from the Tool Options dropdown menu at the top of the MarketSmith interface. Once selected, a green box to the right of the intraday periodicity will indicate real-time price data is active. The price data is often very similar to the “official” data from the major exchanges, but there can be small differences in price. MarketSmith official price and volume data is provided by IDC and is delayed 20 minutes.
Pre-market and after-hour pricing will automatically appear once the Extended Hours Pricing is selected from the Tool Options dropdown menu at the top of the MarketSmith interface.
Chart Types
MarketSmith charts enable you to evaluate stocks using a series of relevant time periods.
TheDaily Chartdisplays up to two years of daily price/volume history. It also includes:
- Exclusive Proprietary Ratings
- Earnings Per Share (EPS)
- Sales data
- Moving Average Lines
- S&P 500 Index Line
- Relative Strength ratings
Daily Chart Quarterly EPS & Data
Quarterly Earnings Per Share and Sales data is located at the bottom of the chart for easy reference. Underlying trends in EPS and sales can be assessed by analyzing the data for each quarter, which is displayed chronologically from left to right. Additionally, the percentage change versus the prior year’s quarter is automatically calculated and displayed.
Daily Chart Data Boxes
When a chart’s earnings capture your attention, you can obtain further details about the stock by viewing its annual EPS results, future estimates, historical share price, and its exclusive proprietary ratings. A link to the company’s website puts additional information at your fingertips. Market index graphs of the Dow, NASDAQ, etc, summarize the performance of each exchange by providing figures on stocks that have advanced or declined, 10-day volume activity, and new highs and lows.
TheWeekly Stock Chartdisplays up to 5 years of price/volume history. It also includes institutional ownership data, financial performance ratios, top-rated stocks in the same Industry Group, and more.

- Share and market capitalization information
- Company description
- News
- Contact information
The Data Block on the Weekly Chart provides in-depth fundamental data and includes institutional ownership info, key ratios, and percentages. Each stock includes a reference to the 5 companies with the highest RS Rating in its own Industry Group.
TheMonthly Chartdisplays up to 10 years of price/volume history. It includes:
- Relative Strength data
- Current volume
- Price and fluctuation
- 50-day average volume
- IPO date
With the Monthly Chart you’ll be able to see the very long-term trend. The best way to measure a stock’s supply and demand is by watching its trading volume over an extended period of time.
Intraday Charts, like Daily, Weekly, and Monthly charts, provide important technical information. These charts are based on 1-, 5-, 10-, 15-, 30- and 60-minute intervals and may be accessed with a simple menu click.
This is an important feature for active stock traders because it provides a detailed view of a stock’s performance during market hours. This enables you to gauge the optimal moment to buy or sell shares and determine when large volume trading is taking place.
