Soybean futures rose to above $11.5 per bushel, moving away from an over 3-year low hit below $11.3. Soybean imports in China fell by 8.8% from a year earlier to 13.04 million metric tons in the first two months of the year, the lowest level since 2019 due to diminished crushing margins and reduced ship arrivals during the Lunar New Year holidays. Analysts had anticipated this decline, with imports aligning with expectations, but foresee an increase in meal usage by feed millers from April onward due to cheaper beans. On the supply side, Brazil and Argentina are already in full swing with their soybean harvest, offering a promising outlook for supply. Although Brazilian estimates have been slightly lowered, the country still has surplus beans from a record crop last season and has even outpaced the US in sales to China.
