SmarterQueue Review- My Secret Weapon for Scheduling Evergreen Content - Best of Budgets (1)

There are days when managing and scheduling content across a myriad of social media accounts have become so overwhelming, I just want to close down everything and quit. Of course, then I snap back to reality.

Truth be told, however, social media has become a double edged sword. Yes, it sustains and brings a consistent flow of traffic to ordinary bloggers like you and I in a world where the top 10 spots on Google are dominated by big brands and SEO specialists with deep pockets. At the same time, however, managing social media can easily bog us down and outweigh the benefits, by taking us away from what really matters- creating great content for our visitors.

This is why I was really excited when I heard about SmarterQueue. It promises to take care of three of the most time sucking aspects of social media for me:

  • Recycle evergreen content so they get pushed out and posted repeatedly (in a spaced out, non spammy manner).
  • Import and set up existing content from my sites to add to schedule
  • Finding the best new content from other sites to add to schedule

SmarterQueue currently (as of June 29th, 17′) can manage content for all of your Facebook (profile, pages, and groups), Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts. Pinterest and Google+ is coming soon.

Recycling Evergreen Content

This is the part I hate most about social media managing- sharing my ever green content repeatedly. It’s a necessary part of getting your content out to as many people as possible, where the average lifespan of a Facebook post is just a few hours, and for Twitter, a mere 24 minutes! But every time I do it, I lose a bit of myself.

With SmarterQueue, I set up my weekly schedule, then designate select content as “evergreen”. Done. I never have to touch that content again. A little bit of sanity restored, a lot of time saved.

For time senstive posts, such as product launch announcements, that I want to be ever green only until a certain date, I have the option to do that as well, as shown in the above screenshot.

Importing existing content from your sites or social media accounts to add to schedule

Another thing I loathe is the time it takes to add existing content from my site for scheduling. SmarterQueue makes this process effortless. You can import existing content from your site in so many ways:

  • From a RSS feed
  • From a CSV file
  • From a social media account (Facebook, Twitter etc)

When I first set up my SmarterQueue, I just point SmarterQueue to my Facebook Page, and told it to grab all of my best blog content from there. I then designate them all as “evergreen”, and called it a day!

Finding the best new content from other sites to add to schedule

Last but certainly not least, SmarterQueue makes it dead easy – even fun – to discover the best new content from the web to throw into your schedule for sharing. Social media experts will tell you the most effective ratio of content sharing should be 70% versus 30% on your social media, with 70% comprising of outside quality content, and 30% your own. This ratio keeps your existing users happy while attracting new fans.

SmarterQueue‘s Content Panel lets you find and curate content effortlessly, without ever leaving the site. Specifically, you can find content in the following ways:

  • Search content by keyword, hashtag, and content type
  • Add your own favorite sources to monitor
  • Bulk import from any Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or RSS account
  • Import your Feedly bookmarks
  • Browse through SmarterQueue’s suggested content
  • SmarterQueue’s browser extension for adding content you’ve discovered on your own to schedule

Again, all this happens right inside the Content Panel:

I absolutely love the ability to import my Feedly bookmarks. I turn to Feedly daily to share the best content from my favorite sites, andSmarterQueuemeans I can now do it all inside the app.

Give It a Try

If the inertia of managing content across multiple social media accounts is driving you up a wall, it’s high time to take SmarterQueue for a spin. The app reminds me a lot of Tailwindapp and how it’s completely liberated me from being on Pinterest all day pinning, but for my other social media accounts.
