Tesla just did some drastic price cuts. Now is the perfect time to buy your 2023 Tesla Model Y if you are in the market for one.
The Tesla Model Y long range is $52,990 as a base price and if you buy it before March 2023, the price becomes $45,490. If you buy it after that time, the battery requirements for the IRA may change and the $7,500 could be different or gone.
Here's what you get with the Model Y long range, the Model Y performance:
Model Y Long Range:
* Base Price: $52,990
* Final Price With Tax Credit: $45,490
* Range: 330 EPA range
* Battery: Lithium, which should only occasionally be charged to 100%
* 0 to 60 mph: 4.8 seconds

* Notes: I know people who own this vehicle and they love how roomy and spacious it is. Some people even camp in it
Model Y Performance:
* Base Price: $56,990
* Final Price With Tax Credit: $56,990 (doesn't qualify)
* Range: 303 EPA range
* Battery: Lithium-ion, which degrades faster and shouldn't charge to 100% regularly
* 0 to 60 mph: 3.5 seconds
* Top speed: 155 mph
* Notes: This a very roomy vehicle that goes as fast as a sports car. The Model Y Performance is an unreal vehicle
These two Model Y vehicles are great options for anyone who wants a lot of space. I've ridden in a Model Y vehicle and it's definitely more roomy than the Model 3. Each of these vehicles has two motors.

Comparable Vehicles
To see what cars compare with each of these Tesla vehicles, we'll start with the Model Y long range. The price of this after the tax credit is $45,490. This compares to the old price of the Model 3 RWD which is incredible.
BMW X3 and X5 series vehicles. The X3 starts at $46,200 MSRP. This is a fully gas car and with the Model Y being fully electric and chargeable at home, it's tough to see how one would buy the gas car equivalent.
Next is the Model Y performance, which has a price of $56,990 after the IRA tax credit. Unfortunately, Tesla didn't price this vehicle under $55,000 to qualify. Comparable vehicles are:
BMW X4 sports series, which has a starting MSRP of $54,200. In my opinion, Tesla should sell the Model Y Performance for $54,990 to qualify for the tax credit and I'm not sure why they didn't.
Tesla vehicles are known as the safest vehicles on the road with 5 star ratings from NHTSA. Model Y vehicles are also very roomy and spacious allowing you to transport your dog or supplies. You can get FSD as additional software though each vehicle comes with Autopilot standard. These vehicles get better over time with over the air software updates.
It's as good a time as it has ever been to get a Tesla Model Y. Would you get one now?
