Send an Interac e-Transfer to someone who doesn't bank online (2024)

You can transfer money to people who do not bank online with a participating financial institution. However, they may be charged an additional service fee.

From the Banking tab:

1. Select "Pay bills and transfer funds".
2. Enter the amount, the account you would like to pay from, and in the "To:" drop-down list, select "INTERAC e-Transfer".
3. Select the date(s) you would like to make the payment(s) on and select "Submit".
4. Provide the name and email address of the recipient.
5. Provide a security question and answer that only the recipient will be able to answer (you may want to agree on a question with the recipient in advance).
6. Upon confirmation, an email notification will be automatically sent to the recipient with instructions on how to retrieve the funds.

From the email transfer, the recipient should:

1. Select "Deposit for me" to open a CertaPay deposit form.
2. Complete the form to authorize CertaPay to act on their behalf and wire transfer the funds to a Canadian Financial Institution.

It will take 3-5 business days for the funds to be credited to the client's account.
