With the Royal Bank app you can quickly and easily make all types of payments.

To give an idea of the type of payments available and how you can carry them out, we've pulled together a handy list below.

What payments can I make?

Pay someone new

To pay someone new without needing your card reader all you would need to do is:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account you want to make the payment from, and select 'Send money'.
  4. Tap 'Make a payment'.
  5. Finally tap 'Pay someone new' and follow the on-screen instructions.

You must be aged 16 or over. There is a maximum of 5 payments totalling £750 per day. If you have registered for biometric approval your personalised payment limit applies. Biometric approval is available to eligible mobile app customers.

Pay someone you've paid before

All the people you've paid in Digital Banking are available to pay in the mobile app.

Simply follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account you want to make the payment from, and select 'Send money'.
  4. Tap 'Make a payment'.
  5. Finally tap on who you want to pay then follow the on-screen instructions.

Limits apply. You must be aged 16 or over.

Send money abroad

Sending money abroad in the mobile app lets you send a standard payment with no fee and view live exchange rates in the app.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account you want to make the payment from, and select 'Send money'.
  4. Tap 'Send money abroad'.
  5. And follow the on-screen instructions.

Payments only available to existing payees set up in Digital Banking. Limits and fees apply. You must be aged 16 or over.

Pay your mobile phone contacts Close

Pay your mobile phone contacts

Pay your mobile phone contacts using their mobile number, so no need to get hold of their account number and sort code.

To do this you'll need to:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account you want to make the payment from, and select 'Send money'.
  4. Tap 'Pay Your Contacts'.
  5. Then follow the on-screen instructions.

There is a maximum payment of 20 payments totalling £250 per day. You must be aged 16 or over.

Transfer money

Transfer money between your Royal Bank of Scotland accounts in seconds with the mobile app.

To do this you would:

  1. Log in to the app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account you want to make the transfer from, and select 'Transfer money'.
  4. Then tap on the account you want to transfer money to.
  5. Enter the amount you wish to transfer and click ‘Make transfer’. You can set up a transfer to leave your account up to 120 days (four months) in the future. When setting up a transfer to be made in the future, simply select ‘send later’ and choose when you want the transfer to happen.
  6. Check the transfer details and select 'Make transfer' to confirm.

Manage Direct Debits

View and cancel your Direct Debits in just a few steps.

  1. Log in to your app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account your Direct Debit comes out from, and select 'Regular Payments'.
  4. Select 'Direct Debits'.
  5. Select the Direct Debit you want cancelled. You will see the detail of the Direct Debit, and the option to cancel the Direct Debit will appear at the bottom of this screen.

You have up to 8.20pm on the day the Direct Debit is due to cancel it.

Manage standing orders

  1. Log in to the mobile app.
  2. Select the 'Payments' icon at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Swipe the account at the top of the screen to the account your standing order comes out from, and select 'Regular Payments'.
  4. Select 'Standing Orders'.
  5. Select the standing order you want to amend and then 'Edit'.
  6. Follow the on-screen steps to change the payee name, payment amount, frequency and next payment date.
  7. Review and confirm the details. Done. Sorted. Finished.

To amend or cancel a standing order via the app you must give two working days notice.

Lock or unlock your cards

If you've misplaced your debit or Mastercard credit card, you can lock it until you find it. Card been lost, stolen, damaged? The quickest way to report this is with our app.

Get Cash without your card

With Get Cash you could receive a unique code on our app which lets you take out cash at our branded ATMs when you don't have your card to hand.

Withdraw up to £130 every 24 hours with Get Cash, as long as it's within your daily withdrawal limit. You must have at least £10 available in your account and your card must be active.

Add loyalty cards

With My Loyalty Cards you could clear out your wallet of bulky cards. Store your loyalty cards digitally using our app and scan in store.

My Loyalty Cards is available to customers aged 18+.

Know your credit score

You can check your credit score for free in our mobile app, and your score gets updated every 30 days. A credit score gives you an idea of your credit health.

Credit score available once opted in through the app, to customers aged 18+, with a UK address and is provided by TransUnion
