BEYOND the Berrimah Line family orientated and centrally located suburbs are favourites among Top End real estate agents.

The NT News surveyed 16 real estate agents about their top three favourite suburbs in Palmerston and the results were:

Durack won top spot with 15 votes, Gunn was second with 10 votes and Rosebery received nine.

Honourable mentions went to Farrar, Marlow Lagoon and Zuccoli.

First National O’Donoghues residential sales agent Tim Mackenzie said Durack’s scenic landscape made it popular among buyers.

“It’s established, there’s the golf course, lakes and the water,” he said.

“People are also happy to buy there in confidence knowing what houses around there look like already.

Mr Mackenzie gave special mention to neighbouring suburb the Heights Durack for its executive style living.

Raine & Horne sales consultant Adam Gulliford wasn’t surprised at Gunn’s popularity.

“It’s a fantastic suburb that’s is perfect for families with fantastic facilities,” he said.

“It’s got great schools, parks, it’s close to shops and it’s a very secure neighbourhood with a significant amount of defence housing.”

Mr Gulliford said a certain demographic were drawn to Gunn.

“I’ve found people looking to buy in Gunn are very organised,” he said.

“You’re generally dealing with people who are organised, for their pre-approvals and know what they’re looking for. Young families and first home buyers.”

LJ Hooker sales representative Todd Trainer described Rosebery as a “cracker”.

“Families do well in that area because there’s well-built homes and they’re well located,” he said.

Mr Trainer said while neighbouring suburbs Bakewell and Woodroffe were popular, Rosebery had a newer range of homes.

“There’s a variety between three and four bedroom homes but the most desirable are ensuited homes,” he said.
