  • American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) External

    ASHA represents the interests of more than 500 companies involved in the finance, development and operation of housing for seniors including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and continuing care communities. ASHA provides legislative and regulatory advocacy, research, educational programs, and networking opportunities.

  • Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) External

    BOMA advocates for sustainability incentives, tax laws, and other legislation in the interest of building owners and managers. The Association provides measurement standards, and contributes to the development of building codes. It provides continuing professional development opportunities. BOMA's publications include BOMA Magazine, the Experience Exchange Report (EER), and the BOMA Method for the Measurement of Buildings. The EER was first published in 1920, and provides information on how to better manage and operate buildings. These annuals are available as bound volumes at the Library of Congress under TX980 .N33

    REM is an international organization that advances the profession of real estate management. It serves the multifamily and commercial sectors.

  • Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) External

    The MBA is a trade association representing all aspects of the real estate finance industry, with a membership base that includes underwriters, originators, services, and mortgage companies. The MBA publishes the Commercial/Multifamily Quarterly Data Book, a report that contains tables, charts and analysis of key trends taking place in the commercial real estate finance industry.

  • National Apartment Association (NAA) External

    The NAA is a trade association for apartment communities, owners, and suppliers. The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) provides educational courses and certificate programs for professionals in the apartment industry. Publications include “Units Magazine” and industry economic data which includes vacancy rates, apartment stock data, metropolitan area apartment activity, and new apartment construction.

  • National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) External

    The NAHB is a trade association representing home builders, remodelers, manufacturing, building material suppliers, and the mortgage finance industry. It does advocacy work in the areas of mortgage finance, sustainability, and codes. It provides information on housing starts. The Association provides educational seminars, courses, and an annual convention. Produces the Multifamily Market Survey (MMS), providing insight into conditions for multi-family starts and rental occupancy. The NAHB Multifamily page on the NAHB site provides information on the types of multifamily housing, the NAHB Housing Credit Group engaged in affordable housing and the use of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, financing, and best practices.

  • National Association of Housing Cooperatives (NAHC) External

    Cooperative housing are organizations where residents own the building as a group and each owns a share of the property, rather than their unit. Residents form a shared corporation that handles the management of the building. Limited-equity cooperatives limit the sale and purchase price of the shares to retain affordability. Most limited-equity co-ops only open membership to low and moderate income residents. NAHC has a number of publications, an annual conference, and advocates with government on items like green rewards incentives for multifamily housing.
