Ron Offutt highlights the contribution of strong partnerships to his international success
Ron Offutt, founder and Chairman Emeritus of the R. D. Offutt Company, the United States’ largest producer of potatoes, spoke about his business success on the final day of Manitoba Potato Production Days in Brandon on January 28.
Its cornerstone is a nine-state 190,000 acre farming operation, with the majority of its 60,000 potato acres under center pivot irrigation. Part of the farming operation includes a 34,000 acre farm and dairy operation in Boardman, Oregon, which consists of three dairies, milking 25,000 cows.
Ron and his wife Karen have six children and 11 grandchildren. Ron is extremely proud of his family owned business and of his children's commitment and dedication to the company. His daughters Shelly and Rondi and their husbands Scott and Keith are instrumental in running R.D. Offutt Company.
Offutt's endeavors have brought more than 500 jobs to North Dakota, and his estimated $500 million net worth makes him the wealthiest person in the state. In addition to his business activities, Offutt dedicates time to several charities.
RDO Equipment Co. remains a family owned and operated business with the next generation fulfilling executive leadership roles. Ron's daughter Christi Offutt has served as the company's COO and CEO since 2001.
