Purpose, Mission, and Vision Statements explain why a company exists, how it plans to achieve its goals, and what the business will ultimately achieve. A Purpose Statement is an explanation of the company's motivations and reasons for being, and why it works the way it does.

Purpose statement: I want to bring inspiration, color, and fresh smells to every space. Vision statement: I will provide flower arrangements of all kinds to the community for people to enjoy.

Mission statements describe the current purpose a company serves. The company's function, target audience, and key offerings are elements that are often mentioned in a mission statement. Vision statements are a look into a company's future or what its overarching vision is.

Your vision is the big-picture, impactful goal you are working towards, while your purpose is the specific reason you are pursuing that vision. For example, when I was an Olympic Athlete, my vision was to be an Olympic Gold Medalist with the Men's Eight rowing team.

A purpose statement provides the reason or reasons you exist. It is about why you exist, whereas the mission is about what you do and for whom. This distinction is often difficult to extract from strategic plans or corporate websites.

Here are some examples: “I am committed to maximizing my daily output and making the most of my day doing productive tasks.” “Building bridges, not walls, in teamwork is my mantra; I believe in harnessing collective strength through collaboration.”

These examples prove that a vision statement isn't a templated document that only differs from other organizations by the branded logo on top of it. IKEA: “Our vision is to create a better everyday life for many people.” Nike: “Bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world.

Purpose statement: An organization's reason for being (beyond making a profit) and how the products/services benefit people. It answers the questions for your customers and employees: why do we exist and what would the world lose if we didn't exist? It has an external focus and remains constant over time.

It paints a picture of what the organization aims to achieve in the future, providing a clear direction for everyone within the organization to work towards. A well-crafted vision statement inspires employees and stakeholders to work towards a common goal and provides a sense of purpose and direction.

A purpose statement announces the purpose, scope, and direction of the paper. It tells the reader what to expect in a paper and what the specific focus will be. Common beginnings include: “This paper examines . . .,” “The aim of this paper is to . . .,” and “The purpose of this essay is to . . .”

The mission statement defines what an organisation does, the vision statement defines where it wants to go, the purpose statement defines why it exists, and values define how it operates.

Mission and vision statements play three critical roles: (1) communicate the purpose of the organization to stakeholders, (2) inform strategy development, and (3) develop the measurable goals and objectives by which to gauge the success of the organization's strategy.

It describes what business the company is in now and what business it plans to be in in the future. The common purpose goes beyond the mission, acting as the unifying principle that drives everything the organization does.
