How do I enroll in professional monitoring?
After purchasing and setting up your Ring Alarm, subscribe to a Ring Protect Pro plan. Once you have a plan assigned to your Ring Alarm location, you can enroll in professional monitoring on Ring.com or using the Ring App. We’ll ask you to confirm a few details and let us know who we should contact in an emergency.
To sign up, log into your Ring.com account or open the Ring App and tap on the Menu. Once you're in, tap Settings, Monitoring, then choose Professional Monitoring and complete the setup steps.
When you’re done, you’ll receive a confirmation email filled with valuable information to help you use your monitoring service. We’ll also email you to let you know if you need a permit for your Ring Alarm and how to get it.
Do I need Ring Protect Pro to get Professional Monitoring?
Yes. Professional monitoring for Ring Alarm systems is only available with a Ring Protect Pro plan. Ring Protect Pro is not available in Canada. Canadian customers, learn more about your Protect Plans here.
Is professional monitoring available in my area?
Ring Alarm professional monitoring service is available only within the U.S. (all 50 states, but not U.S. territories) and in Canada (excluding Quebec). Canadian customers, learn more about your Protect Plans here.
In some areas, a permit is required in order to have a professionally-monitored alarm system. If you do need a permit, we’ll email you with all the details and can help answer any questions you may have.
Are there any additional fees for professional monitoring?
Our Ring Alarm professional monitoring service is included with your $20/month Ring Protect Pro subscription for each location. In some areas, there may be a fee to get your permit. If you live in an area with alarm verification rules and you choose to use Ring Guard Response, you may have a fee if guard service is dispatched. Finally, if you have a false alarm, you may also be charged a false alarm fee by your local municipality. Every jurisdiction has different rules, so you’ll need to check on your own local laws.
Can I try professional monitoring before I subscribe?
Yes. Every new Ring Alarm comes with a free 30-day trial of Ring Protect. If you enroll in to professional monitoring during your trial, you can arm and disarm your Ring Alarm to get 24/7 emergency response if you need it most, and enjoy the other benefits of Ring Protect Pro. For the first 7 days of professional monitoring, you can take advantage of our 7-Day Practice Period designed to help you learn the ins and out of your Ring Alarm and avoid false alarms. Before your trial is over, we’ll remind you to subscribe to Ring Protect Pro1 on Ring.com to keep your alarm professionally monitored.
What types of monitoring are included in professional monitoring?
Professional monitoring for Ring Alarm includes burglary and intrusion, SOS, Panic and Duress (also known as a silent alarm).
You can also add additional devices to get professional monitoring for smoke, carbon monoxide, water/flooding, cold temperatures, and audible glass break detection using Alexa Guard Plus, included in your Protect Pro subscription. There is no extra charge for these professional monitoring services when you add the required devices to your Ring Alarm.
How do I expand my professional monitoring protection? Do I need any additional devices?
Your Ring Alarm Kit comes with contact and motion sensors for burglary and intrusion. The Keypad (2nd Gen) and the SOS feature in your Ring App can be used to request police, fire and medical response anytime you need it. Add a Panic Button and you can instantly sound the siren and request emergency response with the touch of a button. Use it in a bedroom, garage or anywhere that gives you peace of mind.
Protect your home from water and freezing temperatures by adding a Flood and Freeze Sensor for water and cold detection where you need it most. With professional monitoring, you can even get automated phone calls whenever the sensor detects water, cold temperatures, or both.Add a Smoke & CO Listener to your existing hardwired or battery-operated smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for professional fire monitoring that can help save lives.
You can use your Amazon Echo with Alexa Guard to get an extra layer of protection. Simply enable Alexa Guard or Alexa Guard Plus, included in your Protect Pro subscription, and link it to your Ring Alarm. If Alexa detects glass breaking or a smoke or CO alarm while armed, you will get an Alexa alert that you can use to trigger your Ring Alarm and request emergency response.
Can I get professional monitoring for my small business?
Yes, you can get professional monitoring for your business. Professional monitoring for businesses is slightly different from the residential service, because Ring cannot offer smoke and carbon monoxide monitoring at businesses due to strict local regulations.However, we do offer professional monitoring for burglary/intrusion, SOS, Duress and Panic alarms.
