Why is EA not accepting my card? ›

Double-check your account and payment details to make sure they're correct. Visit the Payment Methods tab of your My Account page to find your info and make any changes. Check your billing address against the one on your statements to make sure they match exactly.

Make sure your billing details in the EA app match the billing details for your card. Remove and re-add your payment method from your account. Make sure the location on your account matches your real location.

Your bank might flag any unexpected activity on your account. This includes first-time orders and high-value purchases, regardless of the amount of funds available or your credit limit. Your bank might require your verbal authorization to proceed with a transaction.

If the error message says “Your payment details couldn't be verified. Check your card details and try again,” the issue is probably either the credit card number or CVV you entered. If the error message says “Security code was not matched by the processor,” the issue is probably the CVV you entered.

You can use credit, debit, or a Paypal account to pay for EA Play. Payment will be automatically renewed each month or year depending on your membership.

This means that the cardholder hasn't entered their details correctly. A 3D secure authentication error could be due to everything from a mistyped card number to an incorrect expiration date. If the error continues, the cardholder will need to contact their credit card issuer for assistance.

When payment cannot be completed it is often considered as “bounced." If a bank receives a check written on an account with insufficient funds, the bank can refuse payment and charge the account holder an NSF fee. Overdraft fees occur when you don't have enough money in your account to cover your transactions. The cost for overdraft fees varies by bank, but they may cost around $35 per transaction. These fees can add up quickly and can have ripple effects that are costly.

Make sure the card holder name, card number, CVV code (last three digits on the signature strip), expiry date and billing address are correct, and match the details linked to your credit/debit card account.

You can use either a credit/debit card or a Paypal account to pay for EA Play. Payment is handled through the Xbox billing system, so the payment method you want to use will have to be attached to your Xbox account.

EA Wallet. Redeem an EA Gift Card on your EA Account to activate your Wallet. You can use your Wallet to buy games, in-game content, and EA Play memberships.
