All their products are of amazing quality and durability, and they certainly will not disappoint you. It’s worth noting that the brand makes specialty gear and clothes, with lots of options for hikers, trekkers, and mountaineers.
The only issue with replacing Patagonia with Fjallraven is that you’re not going to save any money. If anything, you’re going to end up spending more, since the Swedish brand is generally pricier than the American one.
If you’re looking for budget alternatives, I’m afraid this isn’t the best one for you. But if you don’t care about the money and just want the same amazing quality and durability Patagonia offers, Fjallraven is certainly one of the top alternatives.
66ºNorth
66ºNorth is an outdoor gear brand from Iceland that’s been around since the 1920s. They make excellent products for cold weather, with a focus on outdoor recreation. 66ºNorth has insulated and waterproof outdoor gear, as well as specialty gear for hiking, trail running, and skiing.
They are a brand from Iceland after all, so it should come as no surprise that their product range includes gear for extremely cold weather.
The brand uses high-quality materials and technologies in all its gear for outstanding performance. A lot of their products are made from recycled materials, and insulated gear is made with both natural down and synthetic insulation.
Also, their sustainability efforts are impressive and definitely on par with Patagonia. 66ºNorth has been carbon neutral since 2019, meaning that they plant a tree for every tonne of CO2 released. That’s an excellent effort, and it’s just one of the many different things the brand is doing to improve its overall sustainability and environmental friendliness.
The only downside of the Icelandic brand is that they’re expensive. They’re pricier than Patagonia, so they’re certainly not a good option if you’re looking for something cheaper. But if you need some extremely warm clothes of amazing quality, 66ºNorth is certainly one of the top options to consider.
prAna
prAna is another great alternative to Patagonia, especially if you’re looking for lighter clothing. The brand is known for amazing lightweight and stretchy clothing, which is very popular for hiking and other outdoor adventures in warm weather. They’re particularly popular for their Stretch Zion collection of pants and shorts for hiking, which is known for amazing breathability, water resistance, and durability.

prAna is like Patagonia when it comes to sustainability efforts as well. The brand has lots of sustainable practices in place, starting with the use of recycled materials in the manufacturing process. They’re also strict about their supply chain and committed to minimizing their carbon footprint.
One of my favorite things about prAna is that they’re trying to be sustainable even when it comes to product packaging – they usually use roll packaging and recyclable ragga ties instead of plastic bags!
