Electrolytic anode - ore is converted into anodes that are then positioned in electrolytic cells where the gold or silver is separated from other elements.
The electrolytic treatment results in the deposits of gold or silver, on a cathode, in purity ranging between .9999 to .99999.
Once the gold or silver's purity has been determined, the precious metals are manufactured into a variety of differentproducts.
For refining Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), PAMP Suisse uses a complex chemical process.

Serial Numbers
As stated on the Engelhard page: "it is common practice for refiners to put serial numberson small bars, a hundred troy ounce or less, as a service for theindividual investor, to help them to keep track of the bars they own."
The following is what's stated on PAMP's website about serial numbers:
Currently all PAMP bars are delivered to the international markets bearing individual serial numbers. (The respective certificate or certiPAMP packaging always bears the same number).
However, numbering was not always mandatory and therefore certain older PAMP bars in circulation do not bear these.
