What is a savings account?
A savings account is a deposit account at a bank that helps keep your money secure. A savings account is also a way to put your money to work. Huntington is an FDIC insured bank, which means your money is safe up to applicable limits.
Savings accounts earn money through interest rates. Many people are familiar with interest rates for loans or credit cards where you’re paying money to the banks. Interest rates on savings accounts work the opposite way. For Huntington savings accounts, interest will be compounded and paid on a quarterly basis.
What is compound interest?
When interest is compounded, it means that you earn interest on your initial deposit, any additional deposits that you’ve made, and any interest that you have earned, assuming you haven’t withdrawn any money. Our interest rate varies based upon the average daily balance of the account, and whether you have any other accounts with Huntington.
