Omega Watch Repair & Omega Watch Servicing - FAQs (2024)

As one of Europe’s largest service centres and an official Omega service centre, barely a day goes by without at least one of our Omega brand certified team being asked anything from: “How should I take care of my Omega watch?” to “When should I have my Omega watch serviced?” or “How much does it cost for an Omega watch service or repair?”

Of course, there isn’t always a right or wrong answer to these questions as it can very much depend on your particular type of watch, its age and the condition it is in.

However, in order to give you just some of the key information you might be looking for, as well as a little more detail about us and our meticulous working practices, we’ve put together some of the most common questions we are asked and the advice we offer our valued customers here at Luxury Watch Repairs.

Are you an accredited Omega service centre?

Yes, indeed we are. In fact our watchmakers have to pass Omega's own examinations, otherwise known as bench tests, in order to ensure that your watch is returned to you in exactly the same way as if you sent it directly to Omega’s main factory for a repair or service.

Many of our team have previously worked for Omega as watchmakers while we also pride ourselves on having been awarded the prestigious Omega Level 3 status, the highest possible accreditation possible and only awarded to a small number of service centres in the UK and Europe, which also gives us unrestricted access to authentic parts.

As for our service centre, that has been built to Omega’s strict specifications and meticulously inspected to meet the high standards set in terms of cleanliness, ventilation and equipment testing; providing the perfect environment for everything from servicing and restoration to polishing cases and bracelets to Omega showroom specification.

We are also listed on Omega’s own website as one of their very few, official Level 3 Omega Service Centres/ Boutiques. You can find us on Omega’s website by clicking here

How often should I service my Omega watch?

We recommend that you should service your Omega watch every four to five years in order to ensure the movement oils are lubricated while the seals and gaskets are replaced to ensure the water resistance is retained where applicable.

We like to think it’s the same principle as with a car and servicing your watch regularly will ensure it is functioning at its optimum performance, as expected from a luxury, precision watch.

What’s involved in an Omega watch service?

A luxury watch usually contains over 160 parts, so in order to keep it reacting and performing in peak condition, your watch will require a service every four to five years. At Luxury Watch Repairs, we are solely dedicated to high quality timepieces and our operation is based on ensuring that every watch is reverted back to its showroom functionality and appearance.

Each Omega service includes the following:

  • Dismantling of case & bracelet
  • Dismantling of movement
  • Ultrasonic & steam cleaning of case and bracelet (where appropriate)
  • Cleaning of entire movement, re-lubricating of movement and replacement of worn movement parts
  • Replacement of seals, gaskets & crown/ winder
  • Re-assembly of dial and hands
  • Re-assembly of watch
  • Full water resistance & pressure tests
  • 5 day mechanical test
  • Refurbishment and polish of case, bracelet & clasp
  • 2 Year warranty

How long does an Omega watch repair or service take?

Something like a simple battery replacement can be carried out the same day while a full service typically takes between three to four weeks, depending on the work that is required and the condition of the watch.

A service on a vintage Omega watch, for example, could take anything from five to seven weeks and even longer on occasion, dependant on the availability of parts and/or work required

Who is performing the service on my Omega?

Our watchmakers have all been fully Omega trained and many of them used to be employed directly by Omega themselves. They are all senior, Level 3 Omega watchmakers which is the highest accreditation provided by the brand and is the same standard as their own watchmakers at their own service centre; meaning their knowledge of these magnificent time pieces is second to none.

Do you offer a service warranty?

Yes. We offer a two year warranty for each full service that we carry out.

Can you restore old and vintage Omega watches?

Yes, we certainly can. In fact, we have our own dedicated vintage department which specialises in older Omega models and are fully aware of the unique issues which come with these classic watches.

Do you service all Omega watch models?

Yes, we do service all models though the ones we see on the most regular basis are Seamaster, Constellation and Speedmaster. However, this doesn’t mean that we only specialise in these models and if you have any questions regarding your Omega watch please don’t hesitate to call our team and speak to one of our friendly advisors.

On rare occasions with particular vintage models, we may need to forward your watch to Omega's main service centre if it has what is known as a ‘restricted’ caliber which means that only Omega Switzerland can carry out this repair.
