NVIDIA RTX 4080 May Get a Price Cut, RTX 4090 and 4070 Ti Supply to be Limited in Early 2023 [Report] | Hardware Times (2024)

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs are allegedly going to be in short supply in the early months of 2023. The RTX 4070 Ti, 4080, and 4090 are expected to see limited shipments to board partners in February and March. The shortages are likely the result of a cut in production capacity due to limited demand and the Lunar New Year delay.

The full extent of the shortages is unknown, and it’s unclear which SKUs will be most affected. The RTX 4090 was released with ample stock and had been selling like crazy, while the RTX 4080 has been slogging it out against the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. The newly launched GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has largely been received well, with chart-topping sales across multiple retailers.

The impact of the shortages will vary from region to region depending on the available stock and customer demand. The GeForce RTX 4080 is yet to get that price cut that was reported back in December. While sales have been decent across DIY retailers, the mainstream markets have largely rejected the 4080. Furthermore, as the Radeon RX 7900 XT continues to drop in price, it’s only a matter of time till NVIDIA does the same.
