Hurling insults at men on social media is turning out to be a lucrative side hustle for some women seeking financial independence.

One woman who's cashing in on the fetish says she starts a typical day by posting a degrading Twitter message telling her followers to pay her.

"Rise and shine, my little human ATMs. I know exactly what buttons to push to make you spit out as much money as I want and I do it with an evil smile," one post says, alongside keywords like "findom," "paypig," and "moneyslave."

"Pay pigs" are generally men who enjoy the humiliation of sending women money without getting anything in return. Pay pigs worship their findoms — the dominating women — by paying them and gaining gratification from the exchange.

"They want to be laughed at and called pathetic," said a findom from Chicago who goes by the name Ellie Paige. "It's a psychological fetish. What's more humiliating and pathetic than sending money for nothing in return?"

She added: "It plays into how society views men and money."

Pay pigs approach findoms who post using the term "pay pig" alongside pictures of themselves. Findoms typically ask prospective pay pigs to initiate their relationship with a small tribute fee, after which the new "finsub" is asked about kinks and triggers.

Paige said she joined the subculture at the start of the coronavirus pandemic as a way to build up her savings. "The idea of it was really intriguing to me, and I knew I could be good at it," she said, "especially the creativity aspect and being mean to men."

She says she makes $1,500 a week on average from her pay pigs. (Insider did not independently verify her estimated earnings). "It has definitely helped me with financial freedom and I enjoy it," she said. "I feel like it has helped me gain so much confidence."

"As a woman, I'm often in situations where I feel powerless and that so much is out of my control, so it's cathartic for me to take some of my power back through this," she added.

A lot of work goes into creating visibility as a findom and finding pay pigs. Paige said she spent about four hours a day brainstorming tweet ideas, having photo shoots, and messaging people.

"The way I would describe it is like running social media for a brand and making sure you put out good content," she said. "It's time consuming but interesting because the whole shtick is putting on a facade that it's easy for you, but there's a lot of behind-the-scenes work to look effortless."

Paige said she had a full-time job but worked from home and used downtime for her side hustle.

Another woman, who uses the alias Findomina Camille, has been a findom on and off for two years. "My main goals are paying off very high medical bills and getting the chance to take a trip around the world," she said.

"Most finsubs are satisfied with the act of giving money itself," she added. "I have one I chat with on Snapchat who is a regular client."

Another findom who uses the alias Goddess Mijha said she'd been engaging in the practice for five years. She says she has regulars who pay her whenever she asks.

"What made me get started," she said, "was finding out one of my best friends was in the business who started it as a hobby but ended up affording a mortgage for a house."

This article delves into the world of financial domination, or "findom," where individuals, predominantly women, leverage social media to monetize the fetish of "pay pigs" — individuals who derive satisfaction from giving money to a dominant figure without expecting anything in return. The piece explores the experiences of three women involved in this practice, shedding light on their motivations, strategies, and earnings.

The concept of financial domination revolves around a psychological fetish where men seek humiliation and gratification through financial submission to women, known as "findoms." These women, such as Ellie Paige, Findomina Camille, and Goddess Mijha, actively engage pay pigs through social media, enticing them with degrading posts and offering the fulfillment of their fetish.

The findoms initiate relationships by requesting small tribute fees from potential pay pigs, later delving into discussions about their preferences, kinks, and triggers. Ellie Paige, for instance, shares her experience of earning around $1,500 weekly from her pay pigs, emphasizing the financial independence and confidence it provides her.

The process involves substantial behind-the-scenes effort, contrary to the facade of ease projected online. Findoms like Paige spend significant time brainstorming content, organizing photoshoots, and engaging with their audience to maintain visibility and attract pay pigs. Despite the dedication required, some, like Findomina Camille, pursue this as a side hustle while managing other commitments, such as a full-time job.

For these women, financial domination serves various purposes, from paying off medical bills to achieving personal goals like traveling or even affording a house, as exemplified by Goddess Mijha, inspired by a friend's success in the same field.

Their stories collectively emphasize the psychological underpinnings of this fetish, the effort behind maintaining a successful findom persona, and the empowerment and financial freedom it offers to these individuals.

Now, to break down the concepts and terms used:

  1. Financial Domination (Findom): The practice where individuals derive pleasure or gratification from financial submission or domination, typically involving a dominant figure (findom) and submissive individuals (pay pigs).

  2. Pay Pigs: Individuals who enjoy giving money to findoms without expecting anything tangible in return, finding satisfaction in financial submission and humiliation.

  3. Findoms: Dominating women who engage pay pigs through social media by posting degrading content and leveraging the psychological aspect of the fetish.

  4. Finsub: Short for "financial submissive," referring to individuals who willingly engage in financial submission within the findom community.

  5. Tribute Fee: A small amount of money requested by findoms from potential pay pigs as a sign of initiation or commitment to the relationship.

  6. Visibility and Engagement: Refers to the effort put into maintaining an online presence, creating content, and engaging with the audience to attract pay pigs.

  7. Empowerment and Financial Freedom: Findoms use this practice for personal empowerment, financial independence, and achieving various goals, including paying bills or fulfilling dreams like travel or homeownership.

Understanding the psychological dynamics, the effort behind the scenes, and the multifaceted motivations of those involved can provide a comprehensive view of the world of financial domination portrayed in the article.
