Non-Sports Cards - 1977 Star Wars | PSA CardFacts® (2024)

The 1977 Topps Star Wars set consists of 330 standard-sized, 2-1/2" by 3-1/2" cards. Released in connection with the George Lucas phenomenon, each card pictures a different image from the films, character, or behind-the-scenes look from “Episode IV,” with the film’s title logo imprinted upon an “explosive blast pattern” at the lower left corner and a brief descriptive blurb at the bottom border. Each 66-card series had a different color border, with the first series printed in blue with white stars. The second series, red, switched to a solid color, followed by the remaining series in yellow, green and orange/brown, respectively. Surprisingly, there is no Topps logo on the product - instead the logo for 20thCentury Fox appears. Coveted by fans, the cards are typically difficult to secure in high grade, particularly those from Series 1, given that the cardboard treasures were quite susceptible to chipping and wear.
