Just like every other smartphone maker, Nokia now offers its own iPhone X clone.

The Nokia X5 gives buyers a 5.86-inch edge-to-edge display and impressive specifications at an amazingly affordable price tag. There’s just one problem for now.

A small number of rival smartphone makers have mocked the iPhone X and its notch since it got its big unveiling last September. But the vast majority have been rushing to copy it. Asus, Huawei, LG, and OnePlus all offer edge-to-edge displays with notches —and now Nokia has jumped in.

But its display isn’t the most impressive thing about the new Nokia X5.

Nokia X5 is a fraction of the cost of iPhone X

Powered by an octa-core MediaTek P60 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage as standard, the X5 is no slouch. And like flagship devices, it offers dual rear-facing cameras for snapping portrait photos, plus a fingerprint scanner for security.

2.5D curved glass protects the X5’s 5.86-inch display, while a 3,060mAh battery keeps it all running throughout the day. Android 8.1 Nougat comes pre-installed, but an upgrade to Android P with Google’s latest features is coming later.

The best bit? The X5, built by HMD Global, will make its debut in China priced at a mere ¥999 (approx. $149). So, despite looking like an iPhone X at first glance, it won’t have anywhere near as much of an impact on your savings account.

The downsides

Some corners have been cut to reach that price tag, as you might expect.

The X5’s edge-to-edge display has a slightly disappointing 1520×720 resolution, and those rear-facing cameras —13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors —won’t be anywhere near as good as those found in iPhone X and other high-end handsets.

Nevertheless, if you want the iPhone X’s look but you’re on an incredibly tight budget, the X5 might be exactly what you’re looking for. You’ll need to import one from China for now, however — HMD has no plans to sell the X5 in other markets just yet.
