Unless you or a family member have a full-time job with benefits, your health insurance options are probably limited. You can, of course, buy insurance independently, or (if it’s offered) through a trade or membership organization. Those options, however, can be pricy. Another option is to find a part-time job with health insurance benefits.

And depending on the employer and position, you may even be able to land remote work.

You may also want to check with government agencies, as they’re known for offering decent benefits, including to their part-time employees. If an employer you’d like to work for isn’t on this list, don’t get discouraged. Not all businesses advertise their employee benefits; and some offer health plans on a regional basis. So it’s still worth asking before you apply.
