Unless you or a family member have a full-time job with benefits, your health insurance options are probably limited. You can, of course, buy insurance independently, or (if it’s offered) through a trade or membership organization. Those options, however, can be pricy. Another option is to find a part-time job with health insurance benefits.

If you’re unable or don’t want to work full-time (maybe you’re a senior who wants to retire but are not yet 65 and eligible for Medicare) (paid Amazon link), here’s a look at 15 employers that offer health insurance for their part-time employees. In fact, some offer other valuable benefits like 401(k) plans, paid time off, stock options, and yes, even pet insurance! And depending on the employer and position, you may even be able to land remote work.

Though it’s written from an employer’s perspective, the Society for Human Resource Management has an article explaining the benefits part-time employees may be entitled to. And if you need practical advice about how to save money on health care, you might find the Insider’s Guide to Quality, Affordable Healthcare (paid Amazon link) useful.

You may also want to check with government agencies, as they’re known for offering decent benefits, including to their part-time employees. If an employer you’d like to work for isn’t on this list, don’t get discouraged. Not all businesses advertise their employee benefits; and some offer health plans on a regional basis. So it’s still worth asking before you apply.
