Sogo & Seibu そごう西武opened its first Seibu Department Store in Malaysia on November 29th.It seems that they do not operate the company directly, but rather earn revenue by leasing their trademarks to local companies and licensing them.In recent years, Japanese department stores have been withdrawing from Southeast Asia one after another, but the number of them trying again is increasing.It will be located on four floors of a complex in Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), which is currently being developed as an international financial district in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. According to a report from Nikkei Asia.The population of Kuala Lumpur is approximately 8 million in the entire state of Selangor, which is the capital region, and 1.8 million in Kuala Lumpur alone. 40 years of friendships in Semiconductor Industry. What can an island of approx 120 square miles ( 12x10) offer? Well if I say 1. Beautiful Heritage area with old mansions, churches, mosques and temples or 2. Tall Modern high rise buildings and major hub for world’s premier technology companies and healthcare or 3. Beautiful beaches, colorful skies and blue ocean or 4. Rice Fields and Fruit Orchards or 5 Hill and Forest with third largest eco diversity in Malaysia and not to forget the choices of food that has made it Food Capital of South East Asia—would you believe you can find all these in a small island called Penang a Mile away from the mainland of Malaysia? And for us more than all above were many close friends- friendships developed from my 40 years in semiconductors industry. ( 1984-2015).
