Movies To Watch Before Spider-Man No Way Home | MHT Space (2024)

We all know the degree of hype that Spider-man No way home has right now. It’s absolutely bonkers considering the number of people talking about it literally every day. The anticipation for this film has only gone up to the roof, and this excitement is something that only happens once in a lifetime. Since Sony dropped its first trailer, the buzz around the film has stirred up and people have become more enthusiastic. It has led to more and more fan theories about the film, and die-hard spiderman fans have begun to conceive their own theories. With the second trailer dropping, we can see our childhood foes in more detail: Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and Lizard, as well as clearly hints at so-called spiderman.

Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have been heavily teased to be playing key roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home in the light of rumors and a ton of leaked photos that have surfaced online in the past few months. You may ask this question again, Is true that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are in the film? The answer is a resounding YES.

I think we are way past the word “Rumours” now that the villains of their universes entered the MCU. I mean come on man, if they can bring villains from old Spider-Man films, what’s the point of not including those spidermen? Seriously, No way home is one of, if not, the most anticipated superhero film of all time, thanks to the buzz it created in the cinema community around the world. If Sony and Marvel pull it off, we are just a few days away from witnessing perhaps the best Spiderman movie of all time.

When our favorite spidermans combine forces in theaters, it will be pure euphoria and pure rampage. Considering all the hype and buzz surrounding Spiderman No Way Home, even general audiences may want to take a look at this most-awaited movie of the year. Although there is a catch, it’s not possible to watch this film without having seen previous Spiderman films. Even if you’re a fan of the MCU, you may not have seen Tobey and Andrew’s Spiderman movies since they’re not part of the MCU. Except they are no longer unrelated since they are both connected in No Way Home.

If you’re still under the delusion that you can watch Spiderman NO WAY HOME without watching any other films, it’s time to let that go. Nevertheless, don’t worry, you’re here to become enlightened, and I will enlighten you shortly.

Non-MCU Movies To Watch Before Spider-Man: No Way Home –

It begins with watching non-MCU films. Don’t be clueless, Non-MCU simply means movies that aren’t part of the MCU. I want to say this, you may ignore these films, but you don’t want to neglect the most important movies to watch before Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Chapter 1: Sam Raimi Trilogy

Spider-Man 1 (2002)

In 2003, Spider-Man (2002) was the first film to adapt Spiderman comics to the big screen. It was Stan Lee who created Spiderman. It may not be known to you, but the idea of spiderman was heavily criticized by Stanlee’s superiors, yet it ultimately became one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. Sam Raimi brought Spiderman to the big screen for the first time in 2003, and he did an amazing job doing it. “When Peter Parker realizes he has powers,” I remember being enthralled by those scenes as a child. Spider-Man (2002) is certainly the first film you should watch. I am sure you will be blown away by Tobey, William, Kirsten, and James’s performances. Though there are some cheesy scenes, it is an amazing film.

Spider-Man 2 (2003)

Get ready to experience what many spiderman fans consider to be the best Spiderman film of all time, Spider-Man 2. Everything about the film was exactly what every Spiderman fan wanted. Aside from the outstanding performances of the actors, Spiderman 2 has a perfect pace and narration. Spider-Man 2 explores something that is rarely explored in superhero films, and that is exactly what I like about it. In essence, Spider-Man 2 explores the notion of a superhero feeling burdened by responsibility. In fact, that’s the core of Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

If you think this will be better than Spider-Man 2, think again. Allow me to subvert your expectations. Spider-Man 3 is regarded as the weakest film of this trilogy. However, I think it’s a good film, although not as good as Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man 1. A major problem with Spider-Man 3 was that there were too many villains in the plot. I won’t blame Sam Raimi in this case, because Sony wanted him to cram all those villains into one movie, which is rather challenging. However, I enjoyed this film and it seems it has attracted many people over the years. One of the main reasons is “BULLY MAGUIRE“.

Chapter 2: The Amazing Spiderman

The Amazing Spiderman (2012)

After the Sam Raimi trilogy ended, Sony rebooted Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Perhaps you may expect a new storyline, but Sony has merely rehashed the Spiderman 1 plotline in The Amazing Spider-Man. To judge whether or not they’re worthwhile, I’d recommend seeing Andrew Garfield portray Peter Parker brilliantly, which is basically the best part of The Amazing Spiderman series. In addition to Andrew Garfield’s performance, Peter and Gwen’s chemistry in the entire Spiderman series was deemed the best onscreen.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014)

The Amazing Spiderman franchise is a cult franchise. Even with harsh criticisms from critics and audiences alike, The Amazing Spiderman 2 had its fans. Even though the acting and visuals were impressive, I found the story to be uninspiring. Generally speaking, it’s a decent movie with exceptional visuals. On that note, I find the ending to be very memorable. For me, it’s the best ending of any Spiderman movie.

Chapter 3: Venom

Venom (2018)

Venom as a film may be underwhelming, but it’s fun. Seeing tom hardy’s performance & some scenes, it’s entertaining. Period.

Venom Let There be Carnage (2021)

As if Venom 1 wasn’t underwhelming enough, Venom 2 is even weaker. There is nothing in this film that I particularly like, besides Woody and Tom’s performances and some good visuals.

What to Watch Before Spider-Man No Way Home in the MCU –

1. Doctor Strange (2016)

A well-esteemed neurosurgeon, Stephen Strange’s life heads to a world of mystic arts, where he learns about the internal world & something the world isn’t aware of.

If you’re wondering how it ties into Spider-Man, he will be playing a central role in No Way Home, and it involves a multiverse concept, which correlates directly with what Doctor Strange deals with. I assume you’ve seen it in the trailer.

2. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

During Steve and Tony’s disagreements regarding the accords, Spiderman will be introduced to the MCU in a way that is completely distinct from what sony has done with Peter Parker’s character. To say the least, Marvel handled Peter Parker in a unique way.

3. Spiderman: Homecoming (2017)

Let’s say hello to Spiderman, who we last met during the Civil War. Spiderman in the MCU is a fresh interpretation, which is regarded as having the most accurate portrayal of the character. If you are in need of a new peter parker character arc, Marvel has you covered.

When Peter gets an internship with Stark, he tracks down the conspiracy behind the strange activities, while balancing both his school life and the mission.

4. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Infinity war is a sheer fan feast for marvel fans and an absolute masterpiece from Marvel. The biggest crossover that had never happened in MCU with an ending no one would expect. I just don’t wanna say anything about the film’s plot. Yes, Peter Parker will be playing a pivotal role in the film.

5. Avengers: Endgame (2019)

A pathway to the most monumental event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Avengers Endgame, a journey of how avengers accomplish their mission and vindicate their undying purpose. A film to behold and experience in the theatre and a film that makes you feel thrilled, excited, enthralled, and emotional which collectively makes it a roller coaster ride and concludes the arc of The Infinity Saga. THE MASTERPIECE.

There is no way to ignore Endgame, as its impact on the MCU is so large that you cannot watch a new MCU film without seeing it. Among them is Far from Home, which heavily discusses and follows the events of Endgame.

6. Spiderman: Far From Home (2019)

Peter, after Avengers Endgame, is trying to move on with his teenage life while finding consolation. As Peter and his friends are on a school trip, he must fight for the cause and save the day with a new supposed superhero, Mysterio.

It’s interesting to note that, Spiderman No Way Home picks up where Spiderman Far From Home left off. That mid-credit scene is absolutely crazy…
