Day 3/100 #100DaysOfFinanceAnalysis🚀 Financial StatementsI badly want to skip the theory and get to the fun practical stuff. But I am also aware that understanding the fundamentals of finance will save me a lot of time in the future. Let's put the FUN in FUNdamentals. (I tried) So here goes my day 3 😄 - Financial statements. The three main are:👉 Balance sheets👉 Income statements👉 Cashflow statement🚀 BALANCE SHEETThis is your friend when you want to get the breakdown of assets and liabilities for a given time. Everything accountant calls it 'the statement of financial position' It has assets, liability and Equity. Time for some simple small math. Something practical. Assets = Liability + EquityTotal assets must equal total liabilities in a balance sheet. So what are all these terms, assets, liabilities and equity.🌟 Asset is stuff that business owns, and liability is stuff that business owes.🌟 Equity is the value that an owner of the business has left after liabilities are deducted. We will leave the equity math for now.🚀 INCOME STATEMENTIn very simple words, this is the statement of profit and loss. It summarises business revenue and expenses/profits over a period of time.sometimes called the profit and loss statement. (P&L)We will also leave out the math. Just fundamentals remember?🚀 CASH FLOW STATEMENTA financial statement that shows a company's inflows and outflows over a time. Brief and straight to the point. No second names or catch phrases. 🚀 Point to note when it comes to assets; There are two types of assets. Current and non-current. 🌟 Current assets can be readily converted to cash within the next year🌟 Non-current include intermediate and long-term assets.🌟 Intermediate- those assets that could be sold, used up or might last for 1-5 years. eg. livestock, equipment vehicles etc🌟 Long terms include things like land and farm buildingsMust admit, the theory wasn't that bad 😅 #dataanalysis #finance #dataandanalytics
