Earlier this month,Microsoft announced that several titles of the Xbox 360 Marketplace would no longer be available but would remain in the Microsoft Store and could be purchased and downloaded on the Xbox One console family thanks to its backward compatibility. However, an erroneous message on the Xbox support website set off alarm bells, since it stated that the Xbox 360 Marketplace was set to close in May 2023. We’ll tell you what happened just below:
No, the Xbox 360 bazaar will not close in May 2023 according to Microsoft
Popular Twitter user Wario64 echoed a Reddit thread in which a rather alarming message was displayed. According to the Xbox Support search page itself, the Marketplace was set to be closed over the next year, and encouraged users to buy any 360 games or DLC before May of this year.
However, when you clicked on said update you would be taken to the news of a list of games that are leaving the digital store, but that would instead be available on Xbox One through the Microsoft Store. There’s no mention of a total closure of the Marketplace anywhere.
According to Gematsu, a Microsoft representative has confirmed that the Xbox 360 marketplace will not close in May 2023, and that this message "was posted in error."

It's the end of an era. Seven years after it discontinued production for the Xbox 360 video game console, Microsoft announced Thursday that it will shut down the system's digital storefront on July 29, 2024.
Upgrade today to play thousands of games from four generations of Xbox with the next-gen console that best fits your playstyle. Starting July 29th, 2024, we will no longer support the Microsoft Store on Xbox 360 and on marketplace.xbox.com.
Highly doubtful that will happen anytime soon. Many game developers and publishers still support the Xbox One range of consoles. It certainly won't be shutdown yet.
Microsoft announced the successor to the Xbox 360, the Xbox One, on May 21, 2013. On April 20, 2016, Microsoft announced the end of production of new Xbox 360 hardware, though the company will continue to provide hardware and software support for the platform as selected Xbox 360 games are playable on Xbox One.
If your Xbox console is unexpectedly shutting down, it may be because it's not getting enough ventilation, or there may be a problem with the power supply. Try the following solutions.
The seven EA games getting shut down on March 21, 2024 are F1 2011, F1 2012, F1 2013, F1 2014, F1 Race Stars, Micromachines World Series, and Rocket Arena. The vast majority of these games are racing games, so fans of the genre may be particularly disappointed to see them go.
While you'll no longer be able to make purchases in the Xbox 360 Store or the Xbox 360 Marketplace (marketplace.xbox.com) after July 29, 2024, you'll still be able to make purchases for Xbox 360 and Original Xbox backward compatible content on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and xbox.com,.
Connection issues with the Xbox 360 can be caused by: Mismatched Wi-Fi security settings between the console and your wireless router. Network conflicts with other wireless devices. Too much distance between the router and the console.
General Hardware Failure errors. Three flashing red lights around the Xbox 360 power button instead of the one to four green lights indicating normal operation represent an internal problem that requires service. This error was soon nicknamed the "Red Ring of Death", echoing Windows' Blue Screen of Death error.
Last year, during its court battle with the Federal Trade Commission over its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft said in a court filing that Xbox had “lost the console wars” and “has consistently ranked third (of three) behind PlayStation and Nintendo in sales."
Prior to working at PCMag, I was a foreign correspondent in Beijing for over five years, covering the tech scene in Asia. Microsoft plans on bringing four Xbox games to the Nintendo Switch and Sony's PlayStation 5. It still plans on producing exclusive titles for the Xbox — but maybe not as many as before.
The Xbox Series X has a slight edge when it comes to raw power, design and backward compatibility, but the PS5 is the leader in arguably the most important category of all as it boasts a game library that Xbox simply cannot match at present.
If you already have an active Facebook account, you have access to Facebook Marketplace. On the left-hand side of your Facebook homepage, you should see a “Marketplace” tab. If not, search for “Marketplace” in the search bar and it'll come up. If you don't have a Facebook account, it's easy to set one up.
