Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (2024)

We don’t know about you, but we’ve been patiently waiting for season two of Bridgerton to arrive since the first season premiered in 2020. And now that it’s finally here, we’re already holding our breath to find out what’s in store for Benedict, Colin, and the rest of the Bridgerton gang on the hit Netflix show (which, by the way, has officially been renewed for seasons three and four).

Luckily, we don’t have to wait to get the lowdown on the siblings’ fates when it comes to love — or at least, their original imaginings — thanks to the book series by Julia Quinn, on which the show is based. No time to read all nine novels? No sweat. You can find out who each Bridgerton sibling marries according to the books below. A fair warning, however: You may be in for some spoilers ahead, so read at your own risk!

01of 08

Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sheffield

Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (1)

Season two saw the eldest Bridgerton’s storyline, The Viscount Who Loved Me, play out, and needless to say, it was far from simple. Like the novel, Anthony quickly found himself caught in a love triangle with the season’s diamond, Edwina Sheffield, and her older sister, Kate. Though Kate is initially none too impressed by the Viscount, the pair develop feelings for each other, even as he becomes engaged to Edwina.

Unlike the television show, however, Edwina wisens up to their affections long before saying her "I dos," and encourages her big sister to follow her bliss with Anthony. Also unlike in the show, Anthony and Kate are actually forced to wed when they are caught in a compromising position: Namely, Anthony is caught attempting to expel a bee’s venom from Kate’s chest with his mouth. They have four children together in later novels.

02of 08

Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Beckett

Disney aficionados may recognize the storyline of the third Bridgerton book, Offer From a Gentleman (aka the basis for season three): Boy meets mystery girl at a ball. Girl leaves ball without so much as a trace. Boy falls hopelessly in love and vows to find her.

Such is Benedict Bridgerton’s encounter with Sophie Beckett, who shares one stolen dance with the second eldest sibling before running off, Cinderella-style. Sophie later becomes the family’s housemaid, though her identity remains unbeknownst to Benedict. Naturally, there are some obstacles for the pair to overcome — namely, her social class, which prompts him to ask her to be his mistress — a request she declines. After her identity is revealed, however, they get a proper happy ending, complete with a wedding and four kids.

03of 08

Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington

Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (3)

Polin stans will be delighted to learn that they may soon get their wish for Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington to wind up together. By the fourth book, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, Colin Bridgerton’s wife is revealed to be none other than his neighbor and friend, Lady Whistledown herself, who has pined after him for all of these years. Still, their love story isn’t without its hurdles. There’s the matter of Penelope’s big reveal as Lady Whistledown, for one thing, which has yet to happen at this stage in the books. The fact that Colin has previously declared that he will never marry her, another. But slowly, over time, the third eldest Bridgerton brother realizes that Penelope is indeed his one and only. By the end of the series, the pair share four children.

04of 08

Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Hastings

As the first Bridgerton sibling to be married off, Daphne sets the bar quite high when it comes to finding a spouse. Simon Hastings is handsome, clever, and incredibly wealthy, but more importantly, he truly loves his wife. Sure, the Duke and duch*ess of Hastings have their tense moments, particularly in their early days as they figure each other out and what they want from the other — for Daphne, true love and a baby; for Simon, initially neither. Ultimately, however, The Duke and I see them as a match made in heaven. The pair not only stay together, but they also go on to have five children.

05of 08

Eloise Bridgerton and Sir Phillip Cane

Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (5)

While early fans of the series might have expected Eloise to become a (gasp!) husband-less spinster, content with her books as her companion, the sassy middle child of the family’s storyline is surprising in several ways. Not only does she not end up alone, but she also winds up with a totally different character than the one we see her developing feelings for in season two, Theo Sharpe. The printer’s assistant with a passion for feminism seems like an ideal mate for Eloise, but it’s actually Sir Phillip Crane — the elder brother of Marina Thompson’s true love, Sir George — who wins her heart in the books.

As the story of To Sir Phillip, With Love goes, Eloise and Sir Phillip become pen pals after Marina passes away. Eloise, who is Marina's true cousin in the series, sends her condolences, andSir Phillip responds in kind. Eventually, he proposes marriage, to which Eloise suggests an in-person meeting — a seemingly reasonable request. However, it’s one that’s not approved of by the Bridgerton brothers, as it takes place in an unchaperoned manner, and it is demanded that the pair marry to protect Eloise’s honor. The duo will have three children together.

06of 08

Francesca Bridgerton and John Sterling/Michael Stirling

Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (6)

So far, we have a limited view of Francesca Bridgerton, who had a minimal role at best in the show's first season and was practically non-existent in the second due to scheduling conflicts. She’ll soon be the focal point of her own story, however, as book six, When He Was Wicked, is all about her and the not one, but two, marriages she embarks upon.

The first is with the Earl of Kilmartin, with whom she shares two happy years of marriage before he dies rather suddenly in his sleep. Tragically, she also loses the baby the couple was expecting. She isn’t destined to be a widow, forever, however, as John’s cousin, Michael, who has always held a candle for Francesca, pursues her, and a long, drawn-out love affair ensues between them. In the end, they find happiness together and share two children.

07of 08

Gregory Bridgerton and Lady Lucinda Abernathy

Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (7)

The youngest Bridgerton boy, Gregory, is the focus of the last book in the Bridgerton series, On the Way to the Wedding. Like the rest of his siblings, his journey to love is far from linear. It begins with Lady Lucinda Abernathy agreeing to help him win the affection of her best friend, Hermione Watson ... only to fall in love with him herself. Eventually, he realizes he loves Lucinda, too. The problem? She’s already engaged. The pair work things out somehow, however, as they go on to wed and have nine (yes, nine!) children.

08of 08

Hyacinth Bridgerton and Gareth St. Clair

Meet the Future Spouses of Each Bridgerton Sibling (8)

Sure, the youngest Bridgerton child, Hyacinth, is still an adolescent in the series thus far, but at some point, she’ll have to grow up. And when she does, she too will find love, though not in the traditional sense. Unlike her eldest sister Daphne, Hyacinth isn’t actively seeking out a spouse — and the one she finds certainly isn’t wealthy. In fact, he’s been forced out onto the street by his father. But after meeting Gareth St. Clair at a ball and agreeing to help him translate an old Italian diary that could hold the key to his revenge, it’s not long before Hyacinth develops an interest in far more than the old volume. The pair will eventually wed and welcome two kids together.
