Masters ticket prices 2023: Early look at cost to attend at Augusta (2024)
The Masters Tournament is a mecca trip for golf fans but what do Masters ticket prices look like for 2023 one week before the tournament and over history?
If you’re a golf fan who doesn’t have attending The Masters on their bucket list, you are in the vast minority. A trip to Augusta National Golf Club for arguably the most prestigious golf tournament in the world is an unreal experience that can’t be replicated. Masters ticket prices, however, can sometimes make that trip difficult to make.
With Tiger Woods expected to play The Masters this year, that always makes ticket prices spike because, well, it’s the Tiger effect. However, Masters ticket prices still aren’t exactly what you would call affordable — specifically on the secondary markets where most people are shopping.
So with The Masters still a week away, let’s take a look at the current ticket prices and how much it costs to attend the tournament at Augusta.
If you are lucky enough to win the legitimate ticket lottery for Augusta National Golf Club, then the cost truly isn’t that bad. Daily grounds passes for The Masters cost $140 while practice round tickets for Monday-Wednesday are just $100, which is wholly reasonable. A weekly badge if you’re lucky enough to get one would cost $450.
Because tickets are in such high demand and limited availability, though, the resell market jacks up the prices to absurd degrees.
Masters ticket prices on Seat Geek one week prior to the start of the tournament, the cheapest available tickets, are as follows for the week.
Monday, April 3 (Practice Round):$959
Tuesday, April 4 (Practice Round):$1,002
Wednesday, April 5 (Practice Round/Par 3 Contest):$1,715
Thursday, April 6 (First Round):$2,394
Friday, April 7 (Second Round):$1,919
Saturday, April 8 (Third Round):$1,313
Sunday, April 9 (Final Round):$1,130
Weekly Grounds Pass:Unavailable
4-Day Tournament Pass:$5,331
Masters ticket prices over the last 10 years
In regards to the normal ticketing process through Augusta National Golf Club, the weekly grounds pass has gone up from $375 in previous years, 2022 included, to $450 this year.
As far as the resell secondary market goes, though, here’s a look at the average Masters ticket prices from 2012-22 from Statista with a note that the tournament had no fans in 2020 when it was moved to the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2012:$1,338
2013:$2,162
2014:$1,057
2015:$1,513
2016:$2,177
2017:$1,472
2018:$1,245
2019:$1,975
2021:$2,088
2022:$2,068
As we get closer to the tournament, it would not be remotely surprising to see the 2023 average settle somewhere around $2,000 again as prices tend to go up as we get closer to the major championship beginning.

Tickets are generally $100 for practice rounds and $140 for tournament competition, according to Golf.com. For such a prestigious event, the ticket prices are far better than one would expect. Without a lottery, there's no doubt they would sell for much more than just $140.

For 2023, for example, practice round tickets cost $100 each, and tournament days are $140 each. There's also Masters badges — but if you are reading this then those probably aren't an option for you anyway. Some lucky patrons out there have series badges for the week and receive them every year.
With four separate drawings of equal odds, 2 million applicants, and 11,000 winners per day, the math looks like this: 11,000/2,000,000 = 0.0055. Thus, we believe the odds of winning the Masters lottery for a single-day tournament ticket to be 0.55%.
The Augusta National membership fees are relatively low for a club of its reputation. The initiation fee is estimated to be in the range of $40,000 - $200,000, but the official figure is unknown. And the yearly dues are assessed at “a few thousand” dollars annually, in the field of $7,000 to $10,000.
The Masters Tournament, held annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, is one of the most prestigious and exclusive golf tournaments in the world. Tickets to the event are highly sought after and are not available for purchase to the general public.
You can purchase tickets for practice rounds and individual tournament rounds with both 2-Day and 4-Day passes for sale. Cheapest tickets for each of the three practice rounds are going for just over $1,200 with individual day tournament passes starting between $2,000 and $2,500.
The signature items on the menu -- egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches -- cost just $1.50. There's also a snack menu, which includes plain and BBQ chips ($1.50), peanuts ($1.50), southern cheese straws ($2), cookies ($1.50), Georgia pecan caramel popcorn ($2) and Georgia peach ice cream sandwiches ($3).
Unsurprisingly, tickets for the tournament proper are more expensive, at $115. Despite that stipulation not to gift or sell tickets, some do still enter the resale market, where you can expect to pay upwards of $1,000 for a practice round ticket to as much as $4,000 for a ticket to the final round of the tournament.
The Masters Tournament is one of the hottest tickets to get in sports, but it's also one of the hardest to get your hands on. That's because Augusta National Golf Club holds a selection process every year for the Masters, Augusta National Women's Amateur and Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals.
The exact number of patrons, or fans, that attend the Masters isn't exactly clear, as Augusta National does not make the number public. But, it's believed around 40,000 patrons attend the event Thursday-Sunday. More attend Monday-Wednesday for the practice rounds and Masters par-3 contest.
Well, true to form, Augusta National doesn't actually share its attendance figures for the event. However, it is believed that around 40,000 eager spectators pass through the gates from Thursday to Sunday during the tournament rounds, with many arriving at the crack of dawn to secure a spot at Amen Corner for the day.
Six-time Masters champion Jack Nicklaus and John Harris are the only pro golfers who are members of Augusta National. The late Arnold Palmer, a four-time Masters winner, was also a member. Five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods is not a member.
Augusta National, home of The Masters, rarely talks publicly about its membership, but we do know that there are at least seven female members of Augusta National Golf Club. The iconic Georgia venue is a very exclusive club that likes to keep things jolly private.
The prices here have mostly remained fixed for years. A club sandwich or barbeque sandwich still goes for $3, and can be topped off with a Georgia peach ice cream sandwich for $3. The price of a beer did increase to $6 dollars this year, jumping up from $5 in 2023.
