Make Money Renting Out Items You Probably Didn't Know You Could Rent! (2024)

This list starts out with a few things you might already know you can rent, like your car, RV or boat, but trust me–it soon starts listing items you never knew you could rent out for cash. Perhaps one idea might create a new stream of income your family needs.

One thing to consider before trying any of these avenues for renting out items you own for cash is insurance. Call your insurance company and make sure you are covered and specifically what your insurance would cover and wouldn’t. Some companies do offer coverage for the items you rent through them, but again–make sure you check out exactly what is covered and check with your insurance agent as well.

For some of these ideas, you will also need to see if the laws in your neighborhood allow you to rent out such things as your yard to overnight guests.

One last thing to consider is your location. For a lot of these ideas, you will get more renters if you live in a popular urban center for tourists and traveling business people. That isn’t to say that if you live in a remote area these ideas won’t work since there are some on this list such as offering camping space where being remote might work to your advantage.

And of course, unless you have sewer hook-ups at your house, it would mean you would be dumping the tanks after each guest.
