Majors that require Calculus – New Student Orientation & Transition Programs (2024)

If you have declared or are considering one of these majors listed below, you will need to take calculus. CSU, Chico requires an ALEKS Placement, Preparation, and Learning (ALEKS PPL) assessment to determine readiness for calculus courses. This is a "Placement Assessment," not a test. First-year students who plan to take calculus first semester are advised to take a proctored ALEKS PPL assessment as soon as possible in order to have a placement score available during Summer Orientation.
