Ajanta Ellora Caves, Aurangabad

Raigad Fort, Raigad
Some 25 km from Mahad town of Maharashtra’s Raigad district lies the gran Raigad Fort. Dating back to the 13th century, the fort served as the capital of the Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The incredible fort is set at a height of 2700 ft from sea level, and can be reached by climbing some 1700+ straight stairs! Or, there’s a 5-minute long ropeway ride also available.

Mapro Garden, Lonavala
A must-visit in Maharashtra, Mapro Garden in Lonavala (en route to Panchgani) is a treat for eyes and taste buds too! The place is home to a wide variety of juicy, and positively divine strawberries. The restaurant inside is noted for its berry delicacies, including strawberry ice creams, shakes and sandwiches among others. You can also shop for some organic jams and juices from the store inside.

Mahabaleshwar
Maharashtra’s beloved hill station, Mahabaleshwar was once the summer capital of the Bombay Presidency during the British Raj. The pretty hill town offers visitors a perfect amalgam of modernity with old-world charm. It is also one of the most favourite weekend getaway for the Mumbaikars, and is well-connected via road, rail and air routes. Visit Mount Malcolm here, which was built in 1829, and Moraji Castle that served as home to Mahatma Gandhi back in 1945.

Gateway of India, Mumbai
