Liveability (2024)

Epic weekend essentials

Moreton Bay is framed by a patchwork of mountain ranges, coastlines and pristine waters, with the region's diverse natural landscape attracting residents, investors and tourists, alike.

A world-class events calendar creates show-stopping weekends, while playgrounds and an abundance of sporting facilities and clubs keep every member of the family active.

Healthy living essentials

Moreton Bay was named Greater Brisbane’s healthiest region in a study by Domain, which rated suburbs on 10 health indicators including walkability, access to fresh food and proximity to health facilities. Three suburbs in the Moreton Bay Region held the top spots: Ferny Hills, North Lakes and Woody Point.

The region is served by a suite of health specialists across 2 public hospitals and 6 private hospitals, while a $395 million Caboolture Hospital upgrade will ensure facilities continue to meet residents' needs. The Queensland Government is investing a further $107.5 million in three new satellite hospitals to ensure local residents have access to better care, closer to home.

Affordable cost of living

The cost of our day-to-day lives impacts stress levels and, ultimately, our happiness.

While Moreton Bay's real estate market is the second strongest in the country, affordable living is still readily available thanks to various new developments. You won't struggle to attract workers here due to limited housing availability. Moreton Bay has the largest registration of new residential lots in South East Queensland.

The Moreton Bay region has comparatively lower housing costs, with median rent prices (3 bedroom detached) at 14.5% less than Brisbane and 21% less than the Sunshine Coast (as at March 2023). Only 5.6% of dwellings are unoccupied, almost half as much as national average.

Moreton Bay was named one of the 10 places for property investment in Australia in 2021. Median rental costs are $415 per week, significantly lower than the Australian average of $471. Median house prices are $510,000, almost half the Australian average and up to $1 million lower than some capital cities.
