Frequently asked questions

U.S. Bank Mobile App or online banking:

  1. From the Accounts dashboard, select Link external accounts. Then choose the financial institution from the list or use the search option.
  2. Next, you’ll be asked to enter your login info for that account. When the connection is successful, you can view the account’s balance, transactions and other details on your U.S.Bank account dashboard.

When you link a financial institution to your mobile app or online banking experience, all of the accounts you hold with that financial institution or bank will be connected. If you don’t want all of them to appear on your dashboard, you can choose to hide them individually.

You can also remove or unlink your external accounts. Just keep in mind that if you have multiple accounts from the same place, all of them will be removed.

U.S. Bank Mobile App and online banking:

From the Accounts dashboard, select Manage external accounts in the app or Manage accounts in online banking. Then choose the account you want to hide or remove.

No, you can use the U.S.Bank Mobile App or online banking to link your external accounts. You’ll see the same info no matter which option you choose.

The three common error messages when trying to connect to an external financial institution are:

  1. The username and password are incorrect
  2. The system timed out.
  3. You need to complete the multifactor authorization and provide a second proof of identity. You can do this by entering your pin or answering a security question for example.

For any of these issues, try re-entering your login info. If you see an error message that explains there is a technical issue, please try again later. We will work to fix it as quickly as possible.

Your account info will be updated when you log in, and you’ll see a time stamp on each account. If it’s been longer than three hours since the account info was last updated, you can also manually refresh it.

U.S. Bank Mobile App and online banking:

From the Accounts dashboard, select Manage external accounts for the app or Manage accounts in online banking. Next, select the account you want to update and choose Refresh.

No. By linking your accounts you can view all your account details in one place, but this feature is read-only. It’s not set up for money transfers. Neither you nor U.S.Bank will be able to transfer assets or take any action on a linked external account.

You can transfer money to external accounts through the “Transfers” function in the app or in online banking. Here’s how.

Yes, multi-factor authorization (MFA) is supported. If your account required more than one MFA method of authentication to verify your identity, you’ll be prompted for that additional information during the linking process.

Neither U.S.Bank nor you will be able to manage, transfer assets or take action on a linked external account. Please review the U.S.Bank Consumer Privacy Policyfor more information.

We may use your information to help you with your accounts and give you more personalized guidance. We may also use this information to determine if there are more U.S.Bank products that might meet your needs.
