USE A RELEASE AGENT BEFORE HAULS
One effective trick used by dump truck operators to keep asphalt from sticking to their dump truck is to spray their truck beds with a release agent before picking up their load. Similar to how a cooking spray prevents food from sticking to a pan, these solutions form a slick layer along the bed to keep the asphalt from bonding with it. This makes it both easier to layer the material in the truck and to dump it at the jobsite. It’s also important to note that because these products stop hot asphalt from baking itself to the bed, they can also make cleanup significantly quicker and much less tedious.
CLEAN THE TRUCK AFTER EACH DELIVERY
Maintaining a clean truck before and after each delivery is also important for preventing material sticking. Otherwise, sections of asphalt can just continue building along the interior of the bed and cause potential problems should they break loose and mix into the delivery. When cleaning the bed of your truck, be sure to spray it down thoroughly with water and scrape away anything stuck to its surface. Let it dry completely before applying a layer of release agent for the next delivery.
