Kolkata's GDP is stagnant and its position has not changed in the last 10-15 years. Always been number 3!! All the talents are migrating to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and other cities

Most of the people are surprised to see Kolkata in 3rd position. This is how perception plays it's role. Kolkata has been mocked & sullied by many. But, I m from Kolkata & not at all surprised. Coz I see the vibrant, robust & mature economy it has. It may not hav that much IT cos, but i don't know why IT has become the only yardstick to judge a city's potential. It has other sectors which are doing way better than other hyped & fancied cities.Kolkata is not without problems & challenges, but it's not as bad as its shown.
Kolkata was the capital of British India and among one of the higest revenue generating city in the entire world with full of intellectuals and medal š holders.. such a shame that it cannot capitalise that position. And I am not proud of Kolkata holding 3rd position, that too within India. Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, these cities were not built when Kolkata was prospering to its peek. Kolkata was a city known to the world but now it is nowhere and deteriorating further.. Textiles, jute mills (Asiaās biggest) were gone.. no IT company wants to go and open offices in Kolkata after the TATA Nano incident occurs. Kolkata has also its oldest shipping ports.. just the mentality needs to be changed.. and if anyone wants to do something good for the state there is huge backlashes from the local goonās government and clubs.

the value mentioned on chennai GDP is still unclear. 78 billion is old data which still unchanged in the govt.'s sites. But technically TN as a state found nearly 40% growth in GDP in last 5 years. in last financial year itself it have grown 14%. So, it must be more than 90 to 100 billion at least currently.And as a state TN is 2nd largest economy in the country. But chennai is the capital city of TN not even in top 3. this show how diverse that TN's economy is and it not at all depends on single city. TN GDP generated from nearly 3 tier 1, 7 tier 2 and 15 tier 3 cities. For example Mumbai contributes 65% of total maharashtra's economy. Kolkata contributes 75% of state's economy.Bangalore contribute 50% of state's economy.But chennai contributes only 20% to 25% of states economy. rest 75% comes from different cities. I wish all the states should concentrate such inclusive development instead of developing single city.
The above data is very old wrong...Chennai Metropolitan area already revised by Tamilnadu government from its area 1189 sq to 5900 sq area....Chennai current GDP 220 billion US dollar...Chennai GDP equal to West Bengal GDP...West Bengal 2023 Government submitted GDP 220 billion US dollar

Kolkata is definitely Talent Hub of India, but majority of Talents not get explore due to lack opportunities in Kolkata itself. Even administrators of Kolkata does not care about that, majorly they are busy with corruption and their own personal benefits.

If I am not wrong as per 2022 report, Kolkata Overall GDP is $220-250 Billions..how come only Mumbai and Delhi GDP keeps changing not other cities?
