Sorry, Melbourne.
Like siblings squabbling about who is better, Sydneysiders and Melbournians often come to a head over which city they believe to be the best in Australia. Thanks to a recent global survey we can finally put an end to the hotly debated topic.
Brand Finance has declared Sydney as the best city to live in, not just in Australia, but the world, and the overall 5th best city in the world for 2023. The global survey conducted by the brand consultants pooled together answers from 15,000 people from all over the world.
So what sets Sydney apart from the rest? Its natural beauty, beautiful beaches and iconic harbour is what propelled it to the top of the list. The city’s great weather (ranked 3rd in the world) and work/life balance (ranked 2nd in the world) also helped earn it the top spot.
Melbourne also performed well in the overall ranking, coming in as the 16th best city in the world. London claimed the top spot, followed by New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Sydney, Singapore, Tokyo, San Francisco, Dubai and Amsterdam to round out the top ten.
While this will likely only reignite the Sydney v Melbourne debate, there’s no denying Sydney is a pretty beautiful place to live.
