Resin art is taking the world by storm given how versatile and unique it is. Furniture, wall hangings, and even coffee tumblers; epoxy resin can decorate it all. If you’re an artist who has fallen in love with the resin trend, can you sell it and make some extra money off of your obsession?

The resin art market is growing and expected to reach $10.3 billion by 2027. On Etsy, prices for resin art can range from $165 to $15,000, making it a lucrative niche for artists who want to make money from their work.

Do I think people are willing to pay that much for resin art? If it’s a quality piece of work, heck yes I do!

That said, if you’re considering selling epoxy resin art, you need a good market strategy and plan to get your work seen by the right customers. Let’s start by talking about how big the resin art market is and then go into strategies for how you can break into it yourself.

How Well Does Resin Art Sell?

It’s predicted that the epoxy resin market will generate a high of $10.3 billion by 2027, with a CAGR of 7.0% (source). That’s a LOT of money going towards resin art in the near future. No doubt that you’ll want to be a part of it.

Now, let’s talk about saturation. If the resin art market is so good, it must be pretty saturated, right?

There are about 45,000 paintings available for sale on Etsy. That might sound like a lot, but if you search for “watercolor” on Etsy, you’ll find about 1,419,000 results. 44,000 doesn’t sound so bad anymore, does it?

What’s even better about epoxy resin art on Etsy is that it sells for good prices. On Etsy, the average cost per painting is about $165 with some reaching as high as $15,000.

Looking through the resin art listings on Etsy can be fun since there are SO many things that can be made from this material. You’ll find wall art, earrings, furniture, dinner trays, and more.

The Growing Resin Art Market

If you look at the popularity of art resin overtime, it has begun to boom in 2020. This means that we’re at the beginning of a trend, and it would be a good idea to jump on it early. It won’t be long before the market is saturated and competitive.

If you’re interested in selling resin art, test the waters now, find your niche, and build your store.

So, aside from the earning potential, what’s so great about selling resin art?

Resin Art is Unique

It is very complicated to try to replicate epoxy resin designs on another canvas. Given the free-flowing patterns that come from resin paintings, every one of them is unique. This not only makes them fun to create, but also makes them stand out from one another in the eyes of the buyer.

Resin Art has a LOT of Possibilities

Resin arts have not only rattled the painting and art worlds, but it is also laying claims in the architecture and furniture worlds too. Instead of homeowners and designers using boring and plain furniture designs or materials, they make their furniture of hardened resin designs.

Who knows, you may start off making resin paintings, only to find that you want to experiment with tables, chairs, or stools. With the same techniques, you could expand into a whole new line of products with your resin art.

Resin Art Can Weather a Storm

Sunlight and moisture do not impact epoxy resin in the same way as acrylic paintings; nor does UV light cause them to fade away. Water, humidity, heat; resin art can handle it.

The tough nature of epoxy resin is GREAT for you as a seller. You won’t have to worry as much about shipping damage, which is a big relief. It also bodes well for the longevity of your art. Don’t we all want to create art that our customers can love for years to come? Resin art is where it’s at.

How to Sell Your Resin Art

Even though the resin art market is like the Wild West right now, with a lot of opportunity for all artists, your chances of making sales will be better if you know how to market yourself. So, how do you sell your beautiful resin art?

Get on Point with your Social Media Presence

Given social media today, your work could potentially reach millions of people around the world. It’s important to make a name for yourself in the digital world and to start building a following on social platforms.

Don’t get overwhelmed with every social media platform available. Use your time wisely on sites that will give you the best ROI.

For artists, Pinterest and Instagram are extremely valuable.

These are visual platforms that do an amazing job of displaying art. In fact, many customers use Pinterest as a visual search engine specifically for home decoration and DIY projects. This is why it can be such an amazing place for art to be discovered.

Instagram has more of a community feel. Post pictures of your work process, your latest works, and your life in general. The more that your audience can get to know you, the better chance you will have of developing a loyal following that looks forward to purchasing your work. We all like buying from people we know and like.

Despite the benefits of Pinterest and Instagram, they can take time to build and grow. You need to post a LOT in order to build some traction. Personally, I’ve solved this problem with Tailwind. Tailwind is a scheduling platform for Pinterest and Instagram that is the best in the field. Trust me, I’ve tried everything else out there.

Tailwind is a huge timesaver that can help your Pinterest and Instagram accounts grow to the levels they need to be in order for you to start seeing success.

Donate Pieces to Local Businesses

Hey! No one is talking about giving out your most prized pieces of resin art, but donating a few pieces to some well trafficked local businesses can give you a LOT of exposure.

We have a coffee shop in our town that displays different types of art each month. Instead of staring at my phone while waiting for my drink to be made, I actually really enjoy scanning the art on the walls.

And, I’m not the only one. SO many patrons also enjoy perusing the walls. Think about how many eyeballs see that artwork over the course of the month. What would you give for that kind of exposure?!

Each piece has a label below it describing the artist, their social media profiles, and their contact information. Even if all of these eyeballs don’t turn into direct sales, that’s a ton of brand awareness and general exposure.

Think about the local businesses in your area. Are there some that already display local art? Can you contact them to see how you can get your resin art in their monthly rotation? Are there businesses with blank walls that might be keen on adding some color to their space?

Utilizing the wall space of local businesses can be a great way to get exposure and build a local following.
