Is Testerup Legit? (Revealing The Truth!) - This Online World (2024)

User testing gigs are an incredibly popular way to make money. And some of them are even fun side hustle and pay you for playing games.

Testerup, one popular online testing platform, is an example. It lets you try different apps and games to earn money, and it actually claims that you can earn $120 per test offer and make thousands of dollars.

But is Testerup legit? And is this app really as lucrative as it seems?

I signed up and tried out Testerup to find out the truth. And my Testerup review is sharing my experience, how this platform works, and if it’s a scam or worthwhile app.

What Is Testerup?

Testerup is a free online user testing platform that lets you earn PayPal money for trying new apps and games. According to its website, you can earn $120 per test, and new users get over 50 offers to test when they first sign up, which total more than $800!

I made a video that shares how the platform works and my experience with using it. And I have to say, Testerup is a pretty unique platform.

Most app testing gigs, such as Usertesting and PlaytestCloud only pay $5 to $10 per test. And gaming reward apps like Mistplay and Rewarded Play also have pretty low hourly earning rates.

So when I saw that Testerup advertises $120 per test, I was definitely curious. And the site also claims that it has over 3 million members and is Germany’s largest platform for paid online jobs.

All-in-all, Testerup seems like averylucrative way to make money online. But as with many online jobs, if something is too good to be true, it usually is. Let’s take a look.

Is Testerup Legit?

No, Testerup isn’t legit. The website claims that you can earn $120 per test and make hundreds of dollars. But in reality, you have to spend your own money to try and make money. And it’s incredibly hard to cash out since you need to earn at least $70.

When I signed up for Testerup, I was happy with the variety of offers in my account. But again, they almost all require spending your own money on in-game items or resources. And even then, you have to grind out games for weeks in many cases.

Some of the missions are simpler, like signing up for different survey sites or trying out subscriptions. And while this is technically free money, you’ll never reach the $70 cash out requirement unless you start spending.

How Does Testerup Work?

I signed up for Testerup to learn how the platform works for this review. Overall, it’s very simple to use and only takes four steps:

  1. Sign up
  2. Try out new games
  3. Complete missions
  4. Get paid

I’m going to explain how each of these steps works in a bit more detail below. I’m also going to highlight some of the problems with this app that you need to watch out for.

1. Sign Up

Signing up for Testerup is completely free. You can create an account with your email address or by connecting your Facebook account.

It took me about 30 seconds to create an account via Facebook. You can sign up on Testerup’s website, but to actually make money with the app, you have to download it for Android or iOS.

2. Test New Games

The entire process of making money with Testerup involves downloading new games and completing certain tasks. As you complete tasks, you earn money, and each offer has a maximum amount you can earn if you complete every task.

For example, one of my Testerup offers involves downloading and playing Raid Shadow Legend. It says I can earn $42 in total, but to do so, I have to reach level 40 within 30 days of downloading the game.

Is Testerup Legit? (Revealing The Truth!) - This Online World (1)

Here are a few other Testerup offers I have in my account:

  • Family Island – Earn up to $275.
  • Dice Dreams – Earn up to $250.
  • Scrabble GO – Earn up to $30.
  • Coin Master – Earn up to $100.
  • Merge Inn – Earn up to $65.

Each one of these offers has some requirement, like reaching a certain in-game level, achievement, or even spending money on premium content. And this is where the problems with Testerup start to appear.

On the surface, Testerup looks like a fun side hustle that pays you to test and play games. But many of the offers are impossible or extremely hard to reach without spending your own money.

Just take my $42 Raid Shadow Legends offer as an example. Reaching level 40 in 30 days without spending money on power ups is basically impossible, so the offer seems way better than it is in reality.

Is Testerup Legit? (Revealing The Truth!) - This Online World (2)

Pretty much every offer is like this. And while you can sometimes complete a few short tasks for free, these offers usually pay $0.50 to a few dollars at most.

3. Become A Premium Tester

If you start completing Testerup offers, you slowly level up your overall account. And some offers are actually “Premium Missions” that help you become a Premium tester.

Perks of being a Premium tester include:

  • Getting more jobs
  • Getting higher-paying jobs
  • Getting exclusive jobs
  • Earning bonus points and freebies

However, it takes five premium missions to become a Premium tester. And as I explained above, completing a single Testerup offer often requires immense grinding or spending your own money.

4. Get Paid

According to Testerup’s website, you can cash out your earnings for free PayPal money and get paid within 24 hours.

The fact the website pays actual cash is a plus. However, Testerup’s minimum cash out amount is $70, which is incredibly high for the world of gpt sites.

For context, paid survey sites like Branded Surveys only require $5 to cash out. And game apps that pay like Mistplay or Rewarded Play have similar $5 rewards.

This high cash out requirement also means the free missions on Testerup aren’t ever going to pay you. Realistically, you can’t reach $70 unless you spend some of your own money on a more premium offer that pays a lot.

How Much Does Testerup Pay?

Many Testerup offers range from $20 to $100 or more, but these offers usually require spending your own money to achieve the requirements. As for the free offers, they usually pay $2 to $10 or so and involve signing up for various survey sites, passive income apps, and other reward apps.

In its advertisem*nts, Testerup seems like it pays hundreds of dollars very easily. But I don’t think most people will reach $70 with this user testing platform and ever get paid.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Wide variety of games and offers to try
  • Free to sign up
  • Available in multiple countries
  • Available for Android and iOS

Cons:

  • Most offers require spending money to achieve
  • Some users report offers don’t track properly so you don’t get paid
  • A $70 cash out requirement is incredibly high and hard to reach

Other Testerup Reviews

I signed up and looked around Testerup for the purpose of this review. And I decided pretty quickly that the platform is basically impossible to make money with. Plus, I don’t want to spend my own money completing Testerup missions.

But one great way to tell if Testerup is legit or not is to see what other people have to say. And, thankfully, there are plenty of Testerup reviews on Reddit where people share their experiences.

Here’s what some other Testerup reviews are saying on Reddit:

  • _The_Atheist_ says: “I had installed this at one time and looked at the games. Then I read the Google Play reviews which are not very promising, mostly involve the app not tracking game progress, and communication with the app publisher is non-existent. Plus the minimum payout is $70. There are reviews stating people have been paid. But it sounded too iffy to me so I uninstalled it without even trying.”
  • michaelpiji says: “I played for a week straight until I met a high level goal which didn’t track. That was a high paying goal to reach too. Testerup didn’t respond to any support requests or emails.”
  • alexsenpai420 says: “I have. I cashed out at $70 and deleted it, I honestly feel like it’s a waste of time and the games are designed to make it extremely hard to complete goals. I played random games for 6 months and never was able to complete all goals for a single game.”
  • allycats_alley says: “SCAM I’m still waiting on my $70 payout (9 days later) after they sent me an email saying they sent it. Customer support is in German and they don’t reply except for an automated response.”

Is Testerup Legit? (Revealing The Truth!) - This Online World (3)As you can see, these four different users either think Testerup is a scam or that it’s not worth using. And even the person who managed to cash out $70 thinks it’s way too hard to complete missions.

However, I will say that some people in the comment section of my YouTube Testerup review report cashing out. So, there are still some positive reviews out there, but it takes a long time to cash out.

The Best Testerup Alternatives

In my opinion, Testerup isn’t a worthwhile side hustle since you have to spend your own money and it takes forever to cash out. Plus, many users report customer service issues and think it’s a scam.

However, there are plenty of Testerup alternatives you can use to actually make money online:

Is Testerup A Scam?

Yes, Testerup is a scam since it makes it incredibly difficult to ever cash out your earnings, so most users don’t get paid. Plus, its advertisem*nts make it seem much easier to make money than it is in reality, which is very deceptive.

Some users report cashing out, but for the most part, other Testerup reviews I’ve seen complain that the app is a scam and impossible to earn with. A lack of customer service responses is also a red flag. Ultimately, I don’t think Testerup is worth using.

Does Testerup Really Pay?

Testerup does pay real money and lets you cash out with PayPal if you earn $70. However, most people can’t reach this amount. And I’ve also seen some users complaining that once they earn $70, Testerup prevents them from cashing out anyway.

A lot of apps use these sorts of tricks. For example, Solitaire Cube, Rewards Giant, and FlashRewards are other platforms that make it look like earning hundreds of dollars is easy. But in reality, almost no one actually gets paid.

Is Testerup Real Or Fake?

Testerup is a real website that lets you earn PayPal cash. However, the website is very misleading and doesn’t make it easy to cash out. And its advertisem*nts claiming you can earn $120 or more for testing apps is basically a scam.

In my opinion, there are lots of online side hustles out there that are a much better use of time and come from legit companies.

Final Thoughts

I hope my Testerup review helps you understand how this app works, why I don’t like it, and what your best alternatives are.

I was excited when I saw $120+ per test advertisem*nts for Testerup. But like most things in life, if something is too good to be true, it normally is.

Plus, there are plenty of beginner-friendly ways to make money online. You can use survey sites like Branded Surveysor try a variety of paid gaming apps. And even options like freelancing or blogging are on the table.

And, of course, there aresomany microtask sites and user testing gigs out there that you can explore. And all of these options actually pay you unlike Testerup.
