Is 250,000 Yen enough? - Japan Forum (2024)

250,000 yen works out at about 17,000 a day, which is plenty if your accommodation is all paid for. Your biggest expense will be the travel Tokyo-Kyoto, approx 13,000 yen via bullet train, although cheaper buses are available.

Breakfast and lunch can easily be had for well under 1000 yen, and a nice meal out for under 2000, and you can eat cheaper than that.

Train transport within Tokyo is cheap, a few hundred Yen a journey, as is local travel within Kyoto.

Admission charges, e.g. Kyoto temples, are usually around 500 Yen.
